Interviewed a candidate for a techie opening yesterday. CTC for the candidate with 4 years experience in current company is 7.2 LPA. Asked what the expectation was. Candidate says 16 lakh. I said that's more than double current CTC. Candidate says yes that's what I want. Conversation ended soon after. Increasingly feeling out of touch with today's generation.

I used to conduct interviews until my last company. Back then, candidates routinely secured the packages they expected. The situation today is completely different. Hiring has largely frozen, and even employees who would otherwise be openly criticizing their employers are suddenly working with renewed enthusiasm. The fear of layoffs is real, and hardly anyone is pushing for extravagant hikes anymore. Forget a ₹16 LPA offer, if he resigns today, there’s a good chance the current company would simply not retain him. Switching jobs right now is a risky move. At least for the next year, the market is likely to remain heavily tilted in favor of employers.

Guy was asking from 7.2 to 16 LPA need someone educated in the replies who can contradict me
