In #Azerbaijan, a deeply ingrained hostility towards Armenians #Armenophobia has resulted in alarming levels of violence and unchecked war crimes. This animosity has developed over a considerable period, with its roots stemming from school textbook content. The seeds of this animosity can also be found in the pseudoscientific works authored by Azerbaijani 'historians,' who label Armenians as savages and destroyers. Collectively, these factors have primed Azerbaijani society for participation in acts of violence, such as those witnessed in #Artsakh. They have tragically convinced perpetrators that Armenians, as a whole, deserve no fate other than death or exile. Lawrence H. Martin, Senior Counsel at Foley Hoag's International Litigation & Arbitration department, delivered a speech at @CIJ_ICJ the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the principal judicial organ of the @UN, in the case concerning the Application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, within the framework of '#Armenia v. Azerbaijan.' #StopArmenophobia

Kinda dopey to point to a business sign that reads “fresh lavash” (Armenian bread) and claim said business is part of a “mafia-gang deal” with no evidence. I’m familiar with that establishment. It’s an Armenian bakery…not a fake hospice. Oz of all people should know where to find the fraudsters. 😉

Look at this madness in an Azerbaijani school. This is how they brainwash young people. School has become a venue for propaganda, not for education. Students role-play capturing an Armenian and forcing him to say “Karabakh is Azerbaijan.” What a shame for education!

Armenophobia is Turkey’s national disease In Turkey the word Armenian is treated as the ultimate insult. A recent street interview makes it clear. When a passerby said #Atatürk himself is Armenian, the interviewer proudly replied that Atatürk had prevented people from “becoming Armenian.” Within seconds the man was surrounded and beaten. This is not an accident. This is what happens when a state builds its identity on genocide denial and hate. For generations Turkish schools have taught children that Armenian means traitor. The media echoes it as an insult. Politicians use it as a weapon. Violence follows naturally because hatred is taught as normal. Turkey loves to present itself as modern and democratic, but the truth is exposed in moments like this. When one word can trigger a lynching, it shows that #Armenophobia is not hidden, it is the very fabric of the state. This is why Armenians in #Turkey live in fear, why dissent is criminalized, and why #ArmenianGenocide denial continues. Armenophobia is not a side effect of Turkish nationalism. It is its core. @EURightsAgency

On the 208th birthday of Hovhannes (Ivan) #Aivazovsky the legendary Armenian marine painter who gave the world over 6,000 masterpieces, #Azerbaijan responded not with recognition, but with destruction, by demolishing his monument in #Stepanakert. Not by mistake. Intentionally. On his birthday. Because in Azerbaijan’s fascist logic, being Armenian is enough to make you a target even 115 years after your death. Not a tank. Not a military site. A statue of a man who painted waves and light. That’s what they fear. That’s what they hate. This isn’t just a dictatorship — it’s a regime waging war on existence itself: On memory. On culture. On anything that dares to carry the name “Armenian.” They burn churches. They erase cemeteries. They dynamite medieval monasteries. Now they destroy monuments to artists. This is #Armenophobia in action systematic, obsessive, state-sponsored. It’s not nationalism. It’s #culturalgenocide. Azerbaijan cannot produce greatness, so it destroys it. It cannot stand beside brilliance, so it smothers it. What kind of sick, insecure regime is threatened by a statue? Only one built on hate, fear, and blood. Aivazovsky’s legacy is eternal written in color, water, & light. Azerbaijan’s legacy is written in rubble, fire, oil, & shame. Let history record what happened today: A cowardly regime desecrated art not out of strength, but out of fear. And the world? Still silent. Still complicit. #StopArmenophobia

🇹🇷🇦🇲 State-Sanctioned #Armenophobia in #Turkey Disguised as Festival Rules The Armenian folk group Veradardz (Վերադարձ) has been officially banned from performing at the 23rd Munzur Culture and Nature Festival in Tunceli (Turkey). Why? Because they raised the Armenian flag during a performance six years ago. Yes! waving your national flag as an Armenian in Turkey is enough to get you blacklisted. In 2019, Veradardz participated peacefully in the same festival, celebrating Armenian identity through music. But the Tunceli Governor’s Office now claims that the display of the Armenian flag constituted a “deviation from the festival’s objectives.” This isn’t a misunderstanding. This is clear, deliberate Armenophobia the state policing Armenian visibility in public life. At the same time, Turkish authorities also banned two non-Armenian musical groups from performing, citing “terror propaganda.” Yet Veradardz was the only group penalized for merely existing as Armenian no politics, no slogans, no protest. Just a flag and a song. ➡️ This is textbook ethno-cultural suppression. ➡️ This is how a state silences indigenous peoples. ➡️ This is how Turkey weaponizes bureaucracy to erase Armenian presence. In a country that claims to want "normalization" with #Armenia, even a folk group is a threat if it dares to be Armenian. Cultural censorship is not neutrality. It’s policy. This is what Armenophobia looks like. And it's happening on Europe's doorstep. #StopArmenophobia

Words can incite, dehumanize, and lay the groundwork for violence. Hate speech isn’t just rhetoric; it’s a weapon that can enable aggression and fuel wars. Armenophobia, promoted nationwide from a young age and at the highest levels of Azerbaijan’s leadership, has played a direct role in justifying violence, displacement, and the crime of aggression. Join us this week as we examine how language shapes the crime of aggression at CFTJ’s 4th Annual International Conference. 🗓️ June 4–6, 2025 📍 Matenadaran, Yerevan, Republic of Armenia 🔗 Register for free now: cftjustice.org/conference

❗️Why Is @OSCE Amplifying Genocidal Hate? #Azerbaijani “Human Rights Defender” Issues Genocidal Threats in Vienna At the @osce_odihr Human Dimension Meeting III in Vienna (June 2–3, 2025), we have witnessed a collapse of principle. An authoritarian state-backed propagandist was given the microphone not to defend human rights, but to glorify war, promote ethnic cleansing and threaten the complete erasure of Armenia’s sovereignty. This wasn’t just a failure of moderation it was the OSCE handing its platform to hate. Ahmad Shahidov, head of the so-called "Institute for Democracy and Human Rights of Azerbaijan", stood at a microphone supposedly reserved for civil society voices and delivered this chilling statement: “During the next war, Armenia may completely lose its sovereignty, and the Azerbaijani army may drink Turkish tea in Yerevan, pray and perform namaz in Yerevan's Blue Mosque.” This is not a metaphor. This is a genocidal threat — delivered from the podium of a European #humanrights conference. A speaker posing as a “human rights defender” issued direct territorial threats, invoked religious conquest, and openly fantasized about the occupation of Armenia’s capital — all at an #OSCE event meant to protect peace and human dignity. This isn’t free expression — it’s incitement. This isn’t dialogue — it’s diplomatic theater for state-sponsored hate. And @osce_odihr let it happen. ⚠️ Meet the Mouthpiece of a Dictator: Who Is Ahmad Shahidov @shahidovcom ? Shahidov isn’t an outlier — he’s the polished face of Azerbaijan’s state hate apparatus and extreme #Armenophobia. His post-2020 war rhetoric is laced with genocidal undertones and glorification of Azerbaijani aggression. His social media footprint documents a long record of hate speech, historical denialism, and justification of violence against Armenians. And yet, this individual was allowed to take the floor in Vienna — not to defend human rights, but to fantasize about their annihilation. 📌 Context Matters: Violations of the Nov 10 Agreement & Ongoing Occupation The audacity of Shahidov’s remarks is amplified by Azerbaijan’s consistent refusal to comply with the 2020 trilateral ceasefire agreement: — Illegally occupy 250+ km² of Armenia’s territory — Violate the Nov. 10 ceasefire terms — Detain Armenian POWs — Fabricate new territorial claims against Syunik & Yerevan Azerbaijani officials and state-linked figures like Shahidov continue to push the fabricated narrative of “Western Azerbaijan,” laying the groundwork for more ethnic cleansing These are not random comments. They are state-aligned threats, echoed across Baku’s propaganda machine and foreign-facing PR campaigns. ❓Why Is the OSCE Enabling This? It is unacceptable, and frankly dangerous that platforms like the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (@DirectorODIHR ) are being used to launder hate speech and war propaganda under the guise of civic dialogue. Allowing figures like Shahidov to speak undermines the very mission of the OSCE: preventing conflict, promoting peace, and protecting human rights. When a so-called “human rights defender” publicly threatens a @UN member state with invasion and religious conquest, it is not freedom of expression — it is a warning of war to come. 💬 Armenia is not up for negotiation. Yerevan is not a bargaining chip. Syunik is not for conquest. The international community must stop legitimizing figures who openly incite war and ethnic cleansing. Ahmad Shahidov’s inclusion at a human rights forum wasn’t a lapse it was a dangerous failure. He’s not a watchdog, he’s a weaponized proxy, brainwashed by Dictator Aliyev and deployed to normalize hate. The world must stop mistaking state-groomed extremists for “civil society.” This is not a warning for tomorrow. It’s already happening. #StopArmenophobia

❗️State-Sanctioned Hate: #Azerbaijan’s Armenophobia Exposed at #OSCE Human Rights Conference At the @osce_odihr Human Rights Conference in Vienna, @Abrahamyan__ , representative of the NGO “For Equal Rights,” delivered a searing address exposing the systemic and dangerous nature of Azerbaijan’s anti-Armenian policies. “It is truly shocking how much cynicism it takes to carry out one of the most horrific and brutal acts of ethnic cleansing — and then publicly claim that Armenians simply ‘moved to #Armenia.’” Abrahamyan’s words strike at the core of the gaslighting and historical distortion that define Azerbaijan’s state narrative. She condemned the long-standing, state-level policy of hate that has led to ethnic cleansing, murder, torture, and atrocities committed with full impunity — all sanctioned and encouraged by Azerbaijani dictator Ilham Aliyev. “I must once again emphasize and speak out against the systemic language of hatred and discrimination promoted by Ilham Aliyev. State-sponsored #Armenophobia is a long-term, existential threat to peace in our region.” According to Abrahamyan, this hatred is not random or reactionary — it is intentional and strategic, embedded deeply into Azerbaijan’s domestic and foreign policy: -Used to divert attention from internal social and political crises -Designed to unify the public against a constructed ‘enemy’ -Weaponized to legitimize aggression and justify territorial expansion Aliyev himself has admitted that Azerbaijan’s success is rooted in raising generations in hatred glorifying the killing of Armenians as an act of heroism. His rhetoric mirrors that of Vladimir #Putin, invoking the same twisted logic of "denazification" and "demilitarization" — terms used to justify #warcrimes. “Dictators think and act alike,” Abrahamyan stated bluntly. After the #ethniccleansing of Armenians from #Artsakh, Azerbaijan now escalates its aggression by claiming that 60% of Armenia’s sovereign territory belongs to a fictional concept they call “Western Azerbaijan.” This narrative is not just revisionist — it's dangerous, imperialistic, and eerily familiar. Once again, Aliyev takes cues from the #Kremlin — fabricating history, militarizing identity, and erasing the existence of an entire people with one hand, while shaking hands with international officials at climate summits and peace talks with the other. This isn’t diplomacy. This isn’t reintegration. This is modern-day ethnonationalism, denialism, and state-led racism. The international community must recognize and reject this growing threat. Because Armenophobia in Azerbaijan is not just a human rights issue — it’s a warning. #StopArmenophobia

❗️.@osce_odihr Human Rights Conference in Vienna Exposes Azerbaijan’s State-Sponsored #Armenophobia A vital discussion titled “State-Based Systematized Discrimination and Ethnic Cleansing of Armenians in Azerbaijan”took place during the OSCE/ODIHR Human Rights Conference in Vienna. The event shed light on the deep-rooted, institutionalized Armenophobia that has shaped #Azerbaijan’s domestic and foreign policy for decades. Participants presented overwhelming evidence of anti-Armenian #racism and #xenophobia, highlighting the direct role of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in fueling and executing this state-sponsored hatred. Survivors of ethnic cleansing shared their harrowing testimonies, exposing the human cost of Azerbaijan’s policies. One of the most impactful remarks came from Daniel Ioannisyan, coordinator of the Union of Informed Citizens. He stated: "Unfortunately, racism is still present in some OSCE member states. But the most racist state-organized crime in the 21st century was committed by Azerbaijan in 2023. In just one week, 150,000 Armenians were forcibly displaced from #NagornoKarabakh. Now, there is not a single Armenian left there — the result of a decades-long campaign of ethnic cleansing that began with the pogroms in Sumgait (1988), Kirovabad, Baku, Maragha, and beyond." Ioannisyan pointed out that there are exact names and lists of victims, and emphasized that no such violence occurred against Azerbaijanis in #Armenia, who left peacefully in the late 1980s. He continued: "Ilham Aliyev doesn’t just tolerate Armenophobia — he celebrates it. In 2012, he pardoned and honored #RamilSafarov, who brutally murdered a sleeping Armenian soldier with an axe in Budapest during @NATO exercises. In 2016, he decorated a serviceman who beheaded an Armenian soldier and posted the photo online — an image that quickly became a grotesque trend among Azerbaijani soldiers. In a national speech, Aliyev even declared: ‘We will drive the Armenians out like dogs.’" Ioannisyan challenged the absurdity of Azerbaijani officials now speaking of “reintegration” of Armenians into Azerbaijani society: "Do they want to reintegrate Armenians or dogs? Because Aliyev has made it clear: in Azerbaijan, Armenians are treated as dogs, not people." The OSCE session echoed what many human rights observers have long documented: Azerbaijan’s Armenophobia is not spontaneous or isolated — it is systemic, state-led, and ongoing. The contrast is staggering. In Armenia, ethnic Azerbaijanis have publicly performed songs in Yerevan’s Republic Square without issue — as recently as January. Meanwhile, any traveler with an Armenian surname arriving at Baku airport is immediately subject to racism and harassment, regardless of nationality. This is not “conflict.” This is not “territorial dispute.” This is state-sponsored racism, historical revisionism, and ethnic cleansing— and it is time the international community calls it by its name. #StopArmenophobia

It’s midnight, the final day of Shavuot—a holiday that commemorates the giving of the Torah to the Israelites at Mount Sinai, specifically the Ten Commandments. A young Israeli boy casually spits at the entrance to the Armenian Convent. “Why the hell did you spit?” I ask. Others gather around me. “What’s your problem?” they ask. “Why did your friend spit? Is it because this is Christian land?” “I’m sure he had a good reason!” “Leave, now!” “No — this is our land. I’ll stand wherever I want.” I call the Armenians guarding the Quarter. They arrive immediately. A car stops at the entrance. “What’s going on? What’s your problem?” “My problem is that people keep spitting on our home.” “I’ll spit too,” the driver says, poking his head out and spitting. “What are you going to do about it?” We call the police and explain the situation. The police station is barely a minute away from the Armenian Convent. They arrive 25 minutes later, the aggressors having already left the scene.

🚨 On May 28, a massive fire engulfed the Armenia Market in Solnechnogorsk, #Russia. But instead of sympathy, the tragedy sparked celebration in major pro-Kremlin Telegram channels—especially Readovka (2.6M followers). Rather than mourning a devastating loss, Readovka’s audience responded with disturbing glee. The fire, which destroyed a business linked to the Armenian community, became an excuse for hate, mockery, and open #Armenophobia. “Armenians are burning” “Don’t put it out” “Are they already grilling kebab?” “Did the Azeris set it on fire?” “Burn, burn brightly! So that it doesn't go out!” “Armenians are a fiery people—it caught fire” “Why is Armenia a market in the center of a Russian city? Close and kick everyone out. Russia for Russians” “Who did the Armenian diaspora piss off?” “At least one piece of good news” Each hateful comment was met with applause: hundreds of 🔥, 😂, and 👍 emoji reactions—public affirmation of ethnic hate. This isn’t just a fringe sentiment. It’s widespread, visible, and alarmingly normalized. A humanitarian incident turned into a viral moment of ethnic hatred. 📌 When misfortune strikes a minority and the public response is celebration it exposes the rot of systemic #xenophobia something the Russian state and its propaganda organs neither confront nor condemn. Once again, Armenians are treated as outsiders in places they’ve helped build, live in, and contribute to for generations. Armenophobia doesn’t always scream. Sometimes it burns—and others cheer. #StopArmenophobia
