Because if you tried and succeeded, you'd have to actually pass the bill. Harry Reid nuked the filibuster in 2013 when he wanted results. Mitch McConnell changed Senate rules THREE times and canceled the August recess. Chuck Schumer used reconciliation within months on a 50-50 Senate. You have 53 seats. You've changed nothing, canceled nothing, and waited eleven months. That brought great excitement and enthusiasm about what was possible. Because that judge, in a fit of naked ideological venom, explicitly punished her for exercising core First Amendment rights...her persistent, evidence-driven insistence that the 2020 election was compromised and that every American has a right...hell, a duty...to demand forensic transparency. Barrett couldn’t resist the tirade. He branded her a “charlatan,” a “snake-oil saleswoman” peddling “election fraud conspiracies,” and let her ongoing speech about 2020 irregularities weigh directly on the length of her punishment. The appeals court called it exactly what it was...unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination. You cannot enhance a sentence based on protected expression. Period. The First Amendment does not evaporate at the courtroom door, and the Colorado Constitution doesn’t either. This wasn’t sentencing...it was a political inquisition dressed in judicial robes.
