@sippy77xx @aspen_ae1 I’m under the impression not every trans person pursues HRT or gets affirming surgeries. So if someone doesn’t change the physical characteristics to match their desired sex, are they not trans?

would you believe me if i said people find transsexual an icky term because of a years-long effort to decouple being trans from material transition aimed to help justify depriving us of medical care and legal recognition?

@sippy77xx @aspen_ae1 I’ve always viewed the “gender is a social construct” in terms of gender roles. Like the whole “men are strong, emotionless protectors” and “women are soft, emotional caregivers.” 90% of what defines a man or woman is what society says it is, rather than being objective truth

@TransF1xed I like how your post was simply addressing how hurtful and disrespectful that post was, just for the reply to call you a piece of shit and a cunt. Like good job enforcing her entire point in commenting in the first place

hey so actually thats not at all what i said, its transphobic and transmisogynistic because its calling closeted trans women cowards on the basis that he can present femininely with zero issues, despite the fact that trans women are the ones punished for femininity by society

@LilithLovett It’s because we’re big freakish men who MUST take up space. We just can’t help it since we’re men and grew up as men and will always be men. But seriously we need to keep calling out this rhetoric because too many queer people are agreeing with TERFs and it’s really damaging

I feel deeply self conscious even speaking up for myself at work when my manager does stuff like committing time theft because I worry about taking too much space and how I might come off. But sure, I still take too much space because of “male socialization” or whatever.

@bluzoan This encapsulates so much of why this entire discussion (and most discussions about trans women) frustrates me so much. So many people dance around saying “I think trans women are men playing dress up” and the fact so many queer people think that way is not talked about enough

This may be controversial but here we go. It does not, will not, ever, help the trans community, for these choose your own adventure NB Queers to play inverted no definition bullshit. Women are a social class based on the female sex, the average woman does not have a beard and is biologically not supposed to (we are not talking special cases). These people exist in every subculture, people who want to be so open minded their brain falls out and definitions cease to categorize the group as anything other than a meaningless label. Maybe your gender expression includes male and female sex characteristics, fine, you're non-binary, but to clutch your pearls and act like the average person is ever going to accept your ultra-abstract postmodern definitions beyond deep academia is beyond privileged. No trans woman in their right mind wants a beard and I wish these people would sit down, shut up, and listen to what we say about ourselves.

@Azazel_Star_ @rlycrossedup You aren’t owed an explanation, especially when you make up narratives that you think I fit (like the “oh wait let me guess”). I’d discuss it in DMs if you really care. This isn’t something that I can fully articulate in replies due to the character limit

@bread732 @EPM106 If you’re going to claim how any group thinks and acts, but arent a part of said population, you’re an asshole. Just because trans men and trans women are both trans does NOT mean they can talk ON BEHALF of one another. The fact that even needs said is insane to me

@Ash_Fem_ @EPM106 This is one of those "cishet aces discourse" adjacent thing, where like, I get why you'd try and blame this one identity, but some of the most noxious and bigoted stuff is coming from people with a pass to say it. Like this is clearly a trans man who does not see the hypocrisy.

perfect clip lmfao, clean transition from “we have to keep in mind that *some* trans women look like cls men and don’t medically transition and love having beards and that’s valid!” to “also they’re male socialized”, a line of thought completely incomprehensible unless…

@Azazel_Star_ @rlycrossedup This isn’t a conversation I could possibly fit in replies on Twitter and even if I could, you make it clear you don’t want a conversation since you really like to say some opinion I never said, but claim I said it

@Ash_Fem_ @rlycrossedup That's not true at all? So are all pre-med trans children not trans? Because they don't have surgery or hormones? Oh wait, let me guess your answer—"That doesn't count because they can't get it done at that age"

@Azazel_Star_ @rlycrossedup I implore you to look into the looking glass self if you genuinely believe that. We aren’t talking about comfortability with oneself. If their identity is purely internal, then they aren’t truly living as a trans person

@BBrideley If these people cared about having an honest conversation, they wouldn’t have platformed those shitty opinions to begin with. He wasn’t championing the male socialization narrative out of the goodness of his heart, he said it because he’s a poser and a bigot

@Rtloyalist2 @ellagoer_t4t I think it’s moreso any dipshit loser can put themselves in front of a camera and act like they have any say on any given topic. That isn’t exclusive to any specific demographic. Idk who the people in the video are or what they do, but I do know they’re fucking losers

honestly quite a horrifying clip. talking about how trans women are still male socialized, meant to take up space, when we're the absolute opposite of that most of the time

@serversidesarah @ellagoer_t4t It doesn’t matter who he’s speaking for, he’s speaking in front of a camera to an audience. His opinion would’ve, and has, reached thousands. And if what you say is bigoted and weird, you’re a fucking loser. Words mean something and it isn’t up to the viewer to extrapolate nuance

@ellagoer_t4t I need to keep reminding myself that anyone who isn’t trans themselves has no fucking clue how we actually think or act. Most queer people just extrapolate information from what the media says about us, which we all know the media has transphobia baked into it

@polypocketknife I dissociated 90% of my life before admitting to myself I wanted to transition. Even if I remembered my childhood, teenage years, even most of my early adulthood, I very much view it as “that person wore my face and had my name, but wasn’t. I wasn’t supposed to be born as them.”

transsexuals i’m curious: do you conceive of your pretransition self as you, as properly the same person just at a different point in life? or as someone you used to be, or pretended to be, a past life sharing a body? is that person still alive to you? were you alive then at all?

@emilunar13 @InstantSunrise Even if it is surface level, the shit they say is still tonedeaf, bigoted, and just fucking stupid. The amount of times nonbinary AFABs say transphobic shit and act like they’re in the right because they’re queer is insane. They’re the textbook definition of posers

Is it just me, or do queer podcasts sort of: 1. lack transsexual women's perspectives 2. talk about transness in a way that is so disconnected from the material needs and conditions of transsexuals maybe I'm just getting a skewed perspective
