@MikeCunningham Random thought… I think the fact that Track doesn’t have an “official” competition number for the team as a whole hurts us in an attempt to gain scholarship & roster growth

"The NCAA has finally moved on reform of roster sizes, opening the door for programs to offer more scholarships than before. Baseball will see a massive increase in scholarship / roster size, going from 11.7 scholarship slots to 34. Basketball will increase from 13 to 15. @Bhart708 By splitting up the State Meet it would also open up the opportunity in the schedule to allow for additional qualifiers through a time standard of some kind They do a great job of running the meet but way the schedule is now, there is ZERO room for additional heats of any event

@BVSWdistance Agreed! KU Relays always runs well too and could host. Rotate the locations and break it up. WSU does a good job, but parking is atrocious and having an event take 1-2 hours is 😅

Would love for our state meet to split up. Show some love to the other amazing facilities across Kansas like ESU, KU, KSU, FHSU, etc. Not a fan at all of the 1-6A in the same location.

@Coach_Rathke Maybe it’s just me… but I feel setting for a Track Meet is easy, but running a meet can be a nightmare… In the other hand, setting up for an XC meet is a HUGE pain, but running one is so much easier.

Track and field meets are like a microcosm of an entire athletic department. If you can run a successful track meet you are beyond prepared to run an athletic department. Blessed to have had some great leaders and plenty of great people in our small village go make it successful!

Less than a week away (April 2) until we start our special DAILY state meet series of podcasts on the Gill Connections podcast. We interview one HS coach from each state every day. Alphabetically so April 2nd starts with my home state of Alabama. We ask: * Private v Public schools * Qualifying meets (regionals, sectionals, descending order list, etc) * What events do you compete in? (this was a fun one!) * Any Meet of Champions or special after state meet events? * Is it State or States? * If you could change one thing what would it be?
