Introducing Illuvium Deathmatch: A blood sport where you throw your Illuvial into the arena against other players for real money. Last one standing wins. But here’s the catch. If your Illuvial dies, it’s gone forever. Deleted. Burned. Gone.

Huge ecosystem update. To be clear, this is not another gaming shutdown notice, so you can breathe a sigh of relief. The last 6 months have been tough, to say the least. Sentiment in crypto is now at an all-time low. And crypto gaming is even lower. But, despite that, Illuvium pushes on. I promised six years ago that we would give it our all, and we are still in a position to come out of this bear market strong, with games that people in both mainstream and crypto want to play. We are lucky to be in a better financial position than most studios in the space, and we have recently reduced our costs even further to ensure we make it out. We have also spent a lot of time strategising about the future, and this post is the first look into our new vision. This is a focused shipping plan across the products that can move Illuvium forward fastest. Overworld We have decided to release Overworld much sooner than planned. We are targeting December 2026. We can do this by cutting out the things that are massively resource-intensive while keeping the things people love and will love. The game will have multiplayer combat, dungeon runs, bosses, creature capture, hundreds of items to collect (all on chain), open world grinding, with the focus on progression, think almost limitless progression, while adding in some spice of gambling to completely max out your ranger, illuvials, and items. For those who played the most recent test, you know all of those things (apart from dungeons) are in the game already. The big thing that will still be missing at launch is PvP. What comes next after launch will be driven by player demand. The exciting part is that we’ll run more playtests throughout the year. The feedback we got from testers was fantastic and helped us shape the final vision listed above. No more ambiguity on the release dates of 3 years from now. We’re talking a December 2026 target. Beyond This little collector's game has generated more revenue than most crypto games ever released. The fanbase is strong. But it needs more, and more importantly, deserves more. We have decided to put a small team of our best web developers onto a tabletop game using Illuvium Beyond characters. Think Unstable Unicorns meets Marvel Snap. We want to build this game quickly and make it available on the web and mobile. This game will integrate heavily into the Beyond ecosystem, including stretch goals, burn mechanics, and disk sales. I have always invested heavily in each wave of Beyond, and I know many, many others have too. Finally, we will have something to play outside of just pure album collecting (which, btw, is obviously still addictive as fuck). On top of the new game, we have Wave 5 coming up, which will complete the set 1 collection, and then a few weeks later, we launch the biggest partner collection we have ever had in Beyond. A brand that is going to turn heads, and the artwork looks beyond fire. Once Wave 5 wraps up, we move into the three-year celebration set and then into Set 2. Arena Oh, my beloved Arena, where did we go wrong with you? As most of you know, I love this game. Of course, I think things could be better if we had more characters and new content, but there is a reason you still see me in lobbies late at night: I simply love playing the game. While we have some updates to Arena, like Ascendant mode returning and rewards being turned back on, for the most part, Arena is built and released. From a development standpoint, we won’t be spending more time on it. That’s not to say we won’t be running events; we certainly will, and the first big one will be hosted by our Beyond partner. But as for development, those resources will be going elsewhere. However, that isn’t the big update for Arena. About three years ago, the head designer of Arena said to me, “You know this would sell much better if it were just a web2 game that we sold on Steam?” At the time, I wasn't thinking of ripping out all the web3 elements, since we had been pushing the crypto gaming dream nonstop for 2 years prior, so I dismissed it. Still, that conversation never really left me. Neither did it for the Game Designer, because he came to me a few weeks ago and asked to license the IP and launch it as a web2 game, with Illuvium capturing the majority revenue share (after platform fees). After some discussion with the council, we decided this was a good decision, given that his team would handle development and that all the artwork was already complete. He has promised me that the game will be ready for the October Steam Fest. Death Match The IIP has just been approved, and we’re good to start development, although we have decided only to release the game on Web and Mobile Browser. The game will feature 2d versions of Illuvials and will be accessible to almost everyone. I’m excited about this one because A) it introduces an Illuvial burn mechanic, and B) it's our first foray into risk-to-earn games, which have become extremely popular amongst crypto gamers. This game reminds me a lot of Beyond. When I first pitched that, I got a huge amount of backlash internally and externally, but ironically, it's our number one revenue-generating game by a long shot. Now you might say, “uh oh. Illuvium is doing it again, building 5 things at once.” But again, ironically, this is where we did our best work. Before, when we were building four products simultaneously, it was chaotic, but in the end, we pulled it off. This time, we are being a lot more strategic about it. Firstly, all teams are completely segregated into separate Discords, so there is no cross-over of work outside a couple of roles, like QA and UX/UI. Secondly, the products being worked on have an extremely strong foundation, and lastly, Arena “web2” isn’t being built by us at all. The reality is we need to make multiple bets at the same time. While we still have runway into mid next year, we need more revenue-generating products. So moving the release date up on Overworld by a considerable time will certainly increase revenues, but so will giving Beyond players more reason to purchase Illuvitars each wave, and likewise, Arena might finally start generating meaningful revenue, even if it’s in the polar opposite place we initially envisioned. The reality is, it doesn’t matter. We need to make moves, and we need to make them fast. And that is exactly what we are doing. So there you have it. A massive update, a huge amount to be excited about, and I know there will be some people in the comments sharing our token chart and saying “it’s over bro,” and that’s fine, but let me be very clear on this, it aint over until the final breath, and we are far, far from that, so the show goes on.

Every dollar i've invested in crypto has rapidly disintegrated up until this point. I always convinced myself it still made sense to continue since AUD is worthless. But somehow, AUD is up 20%+ against USD, which makes zero sense, and it all makes me pretty depressed tbh.

🚨🚨 EMERGENCY ILLUVIUM NEWS 🚨🚨 The migration happens in 3 days from now and I just re-read the doc, most of you likely missed something! Fuel Crates will be permanently deleted and grant fuel to the owners wallet. I am unsure how this might interact with metamask IMX wallets, or anything that isn't an Immutable Passport. Also Tier 2 and Tier 4 fuel crates are selling for a decent discount at 70% of their fuel value on the market. All I know is if you think you are going to drop a stack on Beyond Wave 5 or ADR ahead of Risk to Earn, then this is your last chance to get a serious discount on fuel. You have been notified!

I read the comprehensive document for the new @illuviumio Risk to Earn product again today and something scary stood out to me. If this product doesn't meet users where they are, it will likely fail a quick and horrible death. Everyone already in the Illuvium community will participate, but risk to earn casts an incredibly wide net, the advantage is you can market it to every crypto user. Being on Immutable X zkevm for this game specifically will actually prove to be a disadvantage. When it comes to downloadable client, it's a great ecosystem, but for a browser game, it needs to be even easier. It might be too much work on the blockchain side, but if they do this, then we could see Illuvium Deathmatch be a massive success. Here's what I propose: You can play the game from any major wallet. In order of priority: Solana Ronin Abstract If players can use their phantom wallet to log in, purchase off the marketplace, play and so on, it would be huge! Let's apply an analogy. Lets say you have a circus in Australia and you want people to visit. Some from the USA might fly over, sure, but they probably won't. Building the game on Solana would be like having a circus in both countries, and the crowd can still cheer as one unified group. No one needs to bridge, or anything else. Every single crypto game, especially browser based ones, should be multi chain on the 5-6 major players. No one wants to use new shit, trust me.

@scoriox @PlayDroneStone I liked it. I'm not huge on tcg. Mechabellum is the closest I'll get to sticking to a similar genre. I think it has promis. But like most things illuvium it's over complicated upon entry. I would like that the abilities that can be activated are activated automatically.

I played some @PlayDroneStone today and I wanted to break down the good, the bad and the ugly. First up, I just downloaded it for free on Epic Games. Literally anyone can do that. Also I will note that I am comparing this to the very first build, since it was leveraging a template and so the difference between the two really shows the work added to make a fully fledged Illuvium TCG. What surprised me the most was that so many card abilities were added, but more they all had visual effects and such added into the game as well. Another pleasant surprise was that the cards are placed anywhere on a giant board and many of the abilities affect proximity to enemies, in a way that's rare in other popular digital TCGs. It doesn't have enough to truly hook me in yet, since it still feels a little slow and doesn't have enough additional unique elements for a TCG, but its definitely a solid product and I am looking forward to playing future updates too. As an added note, it has all sorts of tutorials and pve missions, as well as packs of cards people can obtain inside the game. If you love @illuviumio and TCGs of any kind, I definitely recommend checking it out!

@jaganite @illuviumio This is the Jag I remember but more mature haha. But yea I feel this risk to earn thing is just another chasing of the wind like arena was. A distraction from why I first came. I have hope, but will go down with the ship loading women and children onto rafts if I have to.

It is time for me to speak up about the state of @illuviumio and my outlook on the project. I have been a supporter of Web3 gaming, and specifically ILV, for the past 4 years. I served on the council for 2 years before resigning. I chose to spend more time with my kids rather than continue wasting time on a council that I believe cannot save this project. From the moment I joined the Discord, I saw both the potential and the cracks in Illuvium. The project was built largely on hype. It has one of the most charismatic leaders in Web3, and the community became a very strong cult following. That cult was so strong it even led to spin-offs like ETHlizard and Polemos both of which eventually ran out of runway. Great graphics coupled with hype and a charismatic cult leader was the perfect recipe to raise $60M. They also successfully sold $70M worth of land and $10M in PFPs. Despite all of this, they lack the talent and true vision to produce a product–market fit. Arena is a flop. It had a $250,000 prize pool and today has around 20 active players including bots. MMO imo exists mainly to keep the dream alive, to keep investors hopeful and attract more capital. That narrative did not work. The most recent PFP sale was underwhelming, further signaling that the music is fading. Only about $2m staked for shards, in which half was founder's. So, what now? They still have $5M+ in stables and millions in $ILV that can be sold into the open market. Their latest hail-mary is copying Cambria’s “Risk-to-Earn” (gambling). I hope they launch within Q1 so I can liquidate my Illuvials into stables. I do not believe this gambling game will generate meaningful, sustainable revenue, at best, some short-lived hype before chasing the next meta. I will continue to watch the project from afar as the ship sails into the dark. The runway is a ticking clock. Who will keep paying the bills to keep the lights on? Is there any sane VC who will give them more money when they can fund the next expedition 33? Will you give them more money?

So you're telling me I can go on this Scoriox Stats site, I can check for unowned Illuvials above an 85 TPI score. Then click the little gold button and buy the Illuvials I need? Already pre-filtered on the Illuvidex for me to choose one? Then I can refresh and see it in my collection immediately as it takes up that spot. Fuck this Scoriox guy has outdone himself. @KieranWarwick trust me u gonna love this shit.

@KieranWarwick Sure. If you want it unaccessible for the majority and a pay or whale to win sure it'll be fun for a few but will be short lived. If there is an advantage it can't be meaningfully disproportionate. I understand it's more valuable but it'd end up being T5S3 or nothing. Narrow.

We're exploring a new Risk-to-Earn game. It would be greatly appreciated if you could spare 10 minutes to complete this survey. forms.gle/hX9CDAjqxjx58z… MVP is pretty simple: 100 illuvials enter and fight to the death. If your illuvial wins you win cash prizes, or other players Illuvials. We already have a demo of the game; it's reusing a bunch of things that were already built, so Andrei was able to put it together quickly. But the rules of the game are just as important, and that's why we need your help. The game is meant to be simple, easy to understand, and full of Risk, which, in turn, creates excitement and, ideally, viral, streamable moments. Will you put in a Rhamphyre and increase your chances of winning through raw power? Or play it safe and throw in a Tier 1. From the initial responses, it is clear that people want a mix of cash prizes and also a sink to burn Illuvials they no longer want. But also the ability to win other players' illuvials. Thanks, and happy New Year!

I actually did it... I built my first fully fledged app. Its called Scoriox Stats and you can check it out here: scoriox-stats.app Now let me take you on a really quick tour. 1. In the first image you can see the assets page. This will show you your NFTs in a clean fashion, from up to 5 wallets. Not only can you easily see their TPI and level, but you can also view their typical value based on sales history on the marketplace. You can change this value estimation based on TPI or just the Illuvials themselves. 2. Now I bring you to the land stats. Its as simple as it says, but its a real calculation on USD values over time. In other analytics platforms it takes the current day ETH price, rather than historical prices. Filter by Tier, Region, whatever, I worked hard building databases that update daily for new data. 3. The Illuvials page has an insane amount of data, but this TPI bands one is especially fascinating. Here you can view historical prices of Illuvials in different TPI bands. For example the median sales of a Tier 4 94-99 TPI is $13. So jump into the Overworld and acquire some beauties today! 4. And now we have my absolute pride and joy, the collection page. Here you can view what you are missing, easily filter out low TPI or low level Illuvials, figure out which Tier 0's are required and all with a stunning UI frontend. This is undeniable proof that I am the absolute master of UX design, see for yourself! Disclaimer: None of this is mobile friendly yet, and may not stay free forever. I welcome any and all feedback, welcome to dm me on Discord. If APIs are good enough I'd love to expand this for all sorts of NFT collections for other crypto games, if I can get some revenue that is.
