Hello! And also, goodbye. We are abandoning this platform. Twitter (which we refuse to call anything else) was always a bit of a garbage fire but over the last year it has become absolutely intolerable, and even we must now admit it's not good for our mental health.

We leave you with this: Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. (We would have put that sentence in italics, if this absolute dumpster of a site allowed it.)

But hey! This doesn't have to be goodbye! We still have Discord, Reddit, and even old fashioned email. We will leave this account active simply to prevent squatters, but we will not be monitoring new tweets, DMs, etc.

@Backstabbr Is this why the website is closing the connection when I try to enter it?

The site is throwing certificate warnings due to a domain registrar issue but it's otherwise fine. We have not been hacked! We'll get it fixed, err... Soon-ish.

Apologies for using this account for personal grievances, but I'm trying to raise awareness on how awful an airline @British_Airways is in an attempt to get several thousand dollars back. RTs appreciated!

We'll definitely be adding an RSS feed and announcements page on the site. We're less inclined to move to Threads or Bluesky or whatever because that doesn't feel much better for our mental health. But we are open to suggestions.

Cold, dark winter nights means more time indoors, and more time indoors means more hacking. We have a few things brewing, but one that feels pressing is an escape from this nightmarish hellsite. The question is what, if anything, to replace this account with.

@renludico We've talked about introducing a system to allow players to express a power preference, but can't give any ETA.

@renludico Respectfully, there is no bug that causes players to get the same country repeatedly, in the same way that flipping a coin and getting heads ten times in a row is not at all impossible. It's just probability.

@Backstabbr There is a bug when a player gets randomly given a country, there is maybe a 10% chance that the player gets assigned to the same country in the next 3 games (could be more). This bug has been present for a long time.

We've deployed an update that we believe resolves the login issue with Safari 16.1 on iOS/MacOS. You may have to refresh the login page to clear a locally cached version (which we'll try to resolve tomorrow). If you're still having problems, let us know!
