$COHR demoed a 3.2T transceiver at OFC 2026. The industry is still deploying 1.6T. This skips a generation. 400G per lane across 8 lanes, four times today's standard (100G/lane). Demonstrated on both SiPh and monolithic InP platforms simultaneously. SiPh handles modulation and routing on silicon waveguides, but borrows an InP laser for the light source. The advantage is access to silicon fab infrastructure for scaling. Monolithic InP builds everything on InP substrate: laser, modulator, the works. Superior optical properties, but smaller wafers and specialized fabs. Two architectures, one supplier. Whatever the customer picks, Coherent delivers. They also showed a 6.4T CPO, which integrates optics into the network switch chip. Different from $LITE's scale-up demo (direct GPU-to-GPU), this is about making the router itself faster.
