I want to believe in the supernatural in some form. Physical closure feels boring. I want the portal to open, the angels to descend, etc. But I absolutely refuse to be lulled into believing in something fake just because I want to, and so far no such claims are convincing.

@BretWeinstein The “obligation to refuse immoral orders” sounds sensible and high minded but you actually can’t live in a society where everyone chooses their own moral lines and then gums up the system if their own conscience is violated.

The principle in question is NOT about nuclear weapons, it is about immoral orders, and the obligation to refuse them. The Nuremberg court hanged people for following immoral orders in the service of genocide. That's where we are today.

I don’t think most “mentally ill” homeless people/random attackers are really that out of touch with reality, because they only seem to pick physically weak targets. They never go after bodybuilders or soldiers or cops. Usually women and girls. That’s enough mens rea for me.

Many of the replies to this seem to miss the mark. BAP's ongoing meta-argument is that race is more important than religion. And when he praises the writings of hinduism, trying to rebuke him by pointing to the state of India doesn't cut it, if anything it confirms his point.

Attacks on Hinduism are pathetic. Its ancient texts, Upanishads and metaphysical ideas are obviously more profound and sophisticated than anything found in the Bible or commentaries on the Bible. Jesus himself was a traveler and student in India also: he was a Celtic yogi.
