The RDF Military Police Women’s Football Team today faced the Kacyiru Sector Women’s Football Team in a friendly match at ULK Stadium, organized by Gasabo District as part of preparations for the upcoming International Women’s Day celebrations. Held under this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” the event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of International Women’s Day, promote women’s empowerment, and strengthen community partnerships through sport. Kacyiru Sector secured a 2–0 victory in an exciting encounter witnessed by Regis Ngangare, Deputy District Executive Administrator of Gasabo District, and Col. Seraphine Nyirasafari, Head of Gender in the RDF.

Today, the RDF Chief of Civil-Military Cooperation (Chief J9), Col Désiré Migambi Mungamba, met local leaders and staff of Gasabo District where they discussed Rwanda’s culture of heroism. During the meeting, he reflected on the history of Rwandan heroism both before and after colonial rule, encouraging the leaders of Gasabo District to draw inspiration from the country’s national heroes and to play an active role in advancing national development. Col Migambi also underscored responsibility, discipline, and patriotism as the core values embodied by Rwandan heroes, stressing the importance of preserving the Kinyarwanda language as a pillar of national identity. In addition, he urged young people to use social media responsibly by challenging and condemning narratives that undermine Rwanda’s image and reputation.
