Leaders experience emotional distress when they can’t help with staffing and work overload. So focus also on giving staff voice, justice and fairness, better conditions, self rostering, improving teamwork, better supervision meetings and education and training. That helps.

It wasn’t until my later leadership years I recognised the importance of supporting #OurNHSPeople during #Ramadan
As a manager consider:
⏱Flexible start/finish time
🛐Additional spaces to pray/rest
📺Shorter more regular breaks
📖Hosting team education sessions

When asked to review care plans, I regularly change “challenging behaviour” to “behaviour that presents as challenging to staff”
“Challenging behaviour” is often a persons way of expressing themselves. It’s not challenging to them, but to those caring for them.
