@BradleyM_YT I've seen us win the premier league, play in europe and win the league cup.
You will never do any of those three. 👍

Been a slog, but the 1664's taste sweet tonight.

It’s been a tough season - no getting away from that. But when it mattered most, this group stood up and got the job done. Together. We’re proud to confirm our place in the NWCFL for another season. Thank you to everyone who backed us through it all. ❤️ #ColneFC | #RedArmy

@PrestwichHeysFC Could sneak the play offs so completely idiotic to not have played on the Sunday in the Isle of Man if they get awarded the 3 pts .

@refsupportuk Should be no such thing as club marks. Assessors views should be all that count
English

This is actually a very interesting post. When I worked at the FA as a referee coach, I would analyse how many refs from my group gave cards when an assessor was there and compared that to when there wasn’t. Over the 7 years I proved you were 3 times more likely to get a yellow card when there was an assessor present.
Now this is not the assessors fault although some do have their own idiosyncrasies so you had to manage the assessor sometimes.
It was also clear that many refs “over ref” when an observer/ assessor is present and “under ref” when they were not.
Why? You may say. Well club marks counted as part of promotion so clubs didn’t want cards (wether they were correct or not) if you did they would mark you low.
Clubs need to take responsibility as well as refs for this.
Also and this is important, the head of refereeing back then said he expected a range from 70-73 for most games. Interestingly, if you had that average mark as a ref at the end of the season, you would get demoted. This meant refs went looking for cards and were “busy” to get better marks.
This legacy is still there.
Clubs marks mean less at some levels but if clubs were less emotional about refs performance this trend would never be there.
Some assessors also would never or seldom mark over the “expected standards” as they would get pulled up by the head of refereeing for marking too high. They never got pulled up for marking too low.🤔
Some observers/assessors just would not give high marks so refs would cry off their games when they saw who was assessing and some assessors where friends of the ref they were assessing and they never stated their conflict.
There was also a ref who’s Dad was the assessors appointments officer and he got looked after. When he got to the next level where the father had no “connections” nor influence the ref was found wanting and was just not prepared and ready for that level.
There is no silver bullet for this but recently the FA give more credence for game management and are certainly more aware of the problem.
It must still be noted that clubs don’t appear to mark refs fairly so this trait will all ways be in place.
There is a lot to this subject and it’s always been the way that some great refs are passed over for promotion by refs who are not as good as them but have connections.

@WR03GRY @Powelly_9 @refsupportuk 👍 good luck for the rest of the season - it’s been a real pleasure understanding the mindset of some refs

@Connor13463 @TerrierRealist I think Connor has downplayed this, too.
What a cretin.

Hi Chester FC,
I’m writing following confirmation that Calum McIntyre has stood down from his role.
I was genuinely grateful to see how many people wanted me to return to Chester during this period. I appreciated the messages and the support, and I took it as a real compliment.
However, I won’t be applying for the role, as I was committed elsewhere—watching “The @tnsfc: Road To Europe – The @mikeharristns Story.” 🎥⚽
That said, I wanted to be clear about what the club would have had available, because a change of this nature can be disruptive for staff, players and supporters, and continuity, clarity and standards become essential.
As you all knew my name is Andrew Ruscoe. I am a @UEFA B Licensed coach with experience entering fragile or underperforming environments and improving standards quickly—restoring clarity, accountability, intensity and consistency without destabilising the dressing room. This was exactly the kind of situation I specialised in, and I backed myself against anyone when it came to stabilising standards, restoring clarity, and leading from day one.
My approach would have been structured and evidence-led:
✅ I would have established non-negotiable behaviours
✅ I would have simplified messaging and decision-making
✅ I would have reinforced roles and responsibilities
✅ I would have built a repeatable weekly process that drove performance and culture
Leadership & football background would have included: ⚽
🏟️ First Team Manager – @ptfcseasiders
🏔️ First Team Manager – @Flint_Mountain
🌱 @BalaTownFC U19s – player development, habits and pathways Coach
🧱 @BrickfieldRFC – helped move the club semi-professional on three separate occasions; contributed to progression to Tier 2 level as previous Sporting Director
🏟️ Founder & Chairman – FC United of Wrexham – culture-setting, governance, discipline and alignment
🇬🇧 Great Britain Futsal involvement – elite intensity, tactical detail and high-performance standards
🏆 Multiple-time Coach of the Year (Wales) – recognition for sustained delivery and standards
Alongside coaching, I would have brought experience within club/community structures:
🔴 @Wrexham_AFC Community Trust – values-led delivery and representing the club across the community
🟦 Chester FC – helped establish the Chester FC Player Development Centre (pathways, standards, sustainable structure)
From a football perspective, my intention would have been clear: front-foot, high-intensity, high-pressing football built on fast transitions, clear principles, repeatable behaviours and daily standards—while strengthening pathway alignment and consistency across the club.
Finally, I want to wish former TNS star Connell Rawlinson the very best. He’s someone I respect, and I hope the next chapter is a successful one for him.
I wish Chester FC every success with the next appointment and hope the club finds the right person to bring immediate stability and direction.
Kind regards,
Andrew Ruscoe
UEFA B Licensed Coach

🔵 Chester FC can confirm that Connell Rawlinson has been named Interim First Team Manager of the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.
An Academy Graduate of the Blues in 2009, the 34-year-old returned to Chester back in July 2024, and this season has been a part of the coaching staff at the Deva Stadium alongside his playing duties.
Connell will be assisted by the existing management team, and will take training for the first time on Tuesday in preparation for Saturday's home fixture against Darlington.

English

@DeadStarLegacy @BigBearKentlaar Never. If that made him move like that, then he needs to get to the gym.
That's contact, not a foul. Its a dive. Its cheating.
English

@BigBearKentlaar 2 hands in the back and a push is a foul.
End of story.

The harsh truth about academy football:
English

@andrew_cryer @henrywinter Correct. If Haaland had punched him in the face and knocked him out, would they still be saying allow the goal?
English

@henrywinter He couldn’t play advantage Henry because Haaland then committed a foul, which ended any advantage. Ref got it completely right in any era of football.
English

Football belongs to players and fans, not to soulless, joyless pedants with no feel for the game. Senseless decision, an affront to football. Ruling out that third goal is one of the most ridiculous moments of the season, totally against the spirit of the game. The law’s an ass, if it’s a foul, play advantage, and/or how can it be DOGSO if there’s a goal scored? Can’t blame the ref tbh, blame the law and the law-makers and the fact that refs denied the opportunity to apply common sense, living in fear of those who mark their homework. #LIVMCI
