@Shukri_ibm It depends on wat u define 'religious' as. Khuluq is part of religion. The best example is the prophet, and he said he is the best to his wives. When outward appearance is the focus and the inside is tainted, I believe this is the issue. Some1 devoid of character is nt religious.

D lecture will make u uncomfortable because of hw we've normalised gossip in our daily interaction. Even in d circles of knowledge. & wen u begin 2 act to abstain from it, U realise hw much of a stranger you're becoming around people. Dis is d challenge of knowledge & true faith.

Invest in your akhira by listening to Albani's lecture on gossip (gulma). O Mu’adh! Are people thrown onto their faces in Hell for anything other than the harvest of their tongues? (Hadith). Listen to it & ask Allah to grant you tawfique.

@Shukri_ibm You're right, and this is true for almost everything. We had people who profess tawhid and hide nifaq till Allah revealed the truth about them. Despite all these, in terms of marriage, the prophet gave clear guidance: deen and khuluq.

@Bin__Adam It's from what I'm picking from what's happening on the TL. The religious can actually not be religious in the real sense and the person who displays good character might display evil character to you inside the house. This is something the scholars have been hammering on lately.

And everything we can judge with is based on what is apparent. What is hidden in the heart can't be seen.

We sat once with one of our shaykhs in a circle studying. A brother was about to mention something about a fulan from a certain sect (who has passed away) before he could finish; the shaykh interrupted him and stopped him immediately.

After listening to Albani's lecture on gossip, you will understand the hadith on strangers. The way Albani did analysis of gossip makes abstaining from gossip feel so strange because of how we've turned gossip into a daily human interaction.

I believe this is a good question that warrants the fatwa of scholars. I personally believe gossip can enter how we interact with it and even what we ask it to do.
In the wake of new technologies and new innovations, scholars use the instrument of usool fiqh to pass fatwa.

& it does not suffice at just abstaining or not adding; one must admonish, and this is the level where it feels more strange because people will not approve & will detest that u admonish them on wat is normal & a daily occurrence. U can be call a munafiq. & Allah's aid is sought

When you stand before ALLAH, all that will matter is how you complied with the message that came to you, did you accept the message in its totality or reject it wen y didn't like it.

I learnt a simple mention of Mr President with a bad defect is regarded as gossip, even if it is true. The reason I chose this example is that many people think of gossip in terms of other people, & they think gossip does not enter into people who hold public office.

I have only listened to two parts of these lectures. It challenged me & made me uncomfortable. Because it showed me what gossip is in a manner that is not even considered gossip. The deception of the eyes and how even silence and enjoying a conversation can be a form of gossip.
