On this day in 1945, British and Canadian armed forces liberated the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The soldiers found some 60,000 living prisoners, the majority of whom were starving. Thousands of bodies lay unburied around the camp. We will never forget.

The Holocaust at Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas of antisemitism, words, stereotypes & prejudice, through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder of Jewish people.
