Save Brislington Meadows is a community run campaign that is completely non-political. Our only aim is to have this designated site of nature conservation interest saved from any development so it can be enjoyed by future generations. We don’t care WHO saves it. 💚

I’m happy @BrisMeadows survived another day although we still have a hard fight ahead of us. You would think saving a nature reserve in the middle of an industrial estate with brownfield sites available would be a no brainer!

@DanicaPriest @TonyJuniper @NaturalEngland Could it be any more damaging if it tried??? Pay to kill nature and hope that some new ponds (or other habitat) will magically bring the dead newts back to life?

@Sam_Dumitriu The helmet in this analogy began as a hat purely to keep the rider dry. A hat with padding added for safety probably the closest fit...

@Sam_Dumitriu Will those two measures work to prevent solids, both live and inanimate, from entering the cooling water system? If the answer is yes, then they have a plant safety function. That makes them not purely fish protection measure & attempts to claim they are a distortion.

@Sam_Dumitriu Sounding a bit desperate - try research beyond repeating the view of the developer. Fish return systems not unique to Hinkley. See this company selling them for use across the global energy sector, whilst acknowledging that some fish will die in them: ovivowater.com/en/news/preser…

This is desperate spin from lobbyists losing the argument. Environmental mitigation doesnt exceed 0.2% of nuclear costs. In return, protected habitats provide free carbon capture, flood defences & public health benefits. Nature protections are a good deal for all of us

@MattRCBrowne The fish disco and other fish related mitigations cost £700 million on HPC, right?

Given the new evidence & heightened concerns current plans need to be significantly scaled down. Any attempts to offset/compensate for the impact of hundreds of houses on the @BrisMeadows site are inadequate in that they are still based on 2023 thinking. bristol247.com/opinion/your-s…
