I’m excited to share my latest paper in @Forestry_OUP for a new method of generating hemispherical photos from smartphones to estimate forest canopy measures. The results are even better than DSLRs, as I explain in this thread. (PDF on my website). 1/16

💪🏾I've finished going through 5 years of peat soil samples from two sites of our #BRACE climate change experiment (Northern Ontario). I counted/morphotyped impressive ~𝟖𝟖𝐤 microarthropods in total, most being #oribatid #mites Now time to ID the oribatids. #peatland #fen

Since the beginning of lockdown, @BaylaArt and I have been collecting bird carcasses from window strikes at @Yale SOM, which was unthinkingly designed to be one of the world's most effective bird killing architectural mistakes.

😂 This reminds of my first time in the field with @LindoLab taking notes on peatland plant abundance in 2017. That was the moment we realised that my way of counting wasn't their usual - funny enough, I've converted everyone to my way.

@rafazenni @urban_sci @EcoInvasions @ColauttiLab @carlyziter @jscottmacivor @RicardoAdelino_ Canada produces wood pulp (pulp and paper) from white spruce trees, which can be cut only every 25-50 years because they grow slowly in our cold climate. This is much longer than the 6-7 year rotations for eucalyptus in Brazil (data from Bahia).
