Hartmut Ebbing, former German FDP member of Parliament and longtime pro-Israel advocate, served as treasurer of the Deutsch-Israelische Gesellschaft (DIG), was caught with child sexual abuse videos. In 2025, he was convicted of possessing child sexual abuse material and received a 10-month suspended sentence. Parts of the proceedings were held non-public at his request, citing potential damage to DIG and pro-Israel work. In March 2026, a regional court convicted him of child sexual abuse involving his partner’s young son, sentencing him to 2 years and 10 months in prison (not suspended). He resigned from DIG only after the 2026 charges became public.

It leaves nowhere to go for the antisemites: “Every minority faces discrimination – note Tory frontbencher Nick Timothy’s appalling attack on Muslim prayer this week – but next to no other diaspora community goes through this. People can’t stand Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, but Russian Orthodox churches don’t require round-the-clock protection. People loathe Donald Trump and his bombing of Iran, but US-branded stores on UK high streets are not smashed and daubed. As for British businesses with investment links to the US, including to US security firms, those remain untouched. Israel and Jews are the exception.”

Yes with one caveat - Muslims and mosques have also been attacked. Anti-Muslim hatred is very high and rising. Mosques/community centres also need security. Need to have a strategy to deal with attacks on Jewish and Muslim sites; Jews and Muslims.

My high school neighbourhood just elected a local 59yo councilwoman who campaigned in the local paper with an AI photo. Her statement: ‘I used an internet program to enhance the image because the resolution of the photo was bad. It’s simply my photo, that really is me. I use medication that’s why I look a bit different now. But yes, I do look much younger than my age. When I’m out with my son people think I’m his girlfriend. I hear that I look super young for my age all the time.’
