@ClareMaryJones Clare, I’m sorry that this happened to you but glad others came to your assistance. Having been through something similar the only piece of advice I can give was that it wasn’t personal. This might not help now but it will in the future.
I’ve always found the look-for-the-helpers thing useful when processing horrible situations. This week I had a personal reminder of it.
On Monday, a man mugged me just outside my flat (terrifying etc). But: so many people helped me, instantly and without question.

I'm very sad to say that Claire, my amazing wife of nearly 25 years passed away at the weekend following a year of living with cancer. She was an extraordinary partner, mother, friend, colleague, distinguished academic @UCLgeography and gave so much to others.
The real divide in our society is not between people who voted to Leave or Remain in 2016. It is between the many who do the work, create the wealth and pay their taxes - and the few - who set the rules, reap the rewards and dodge their taxes.
