The biggest survival gap we see isn’t the gunfight. It’s medical care & triage. If you help choose or approve active shooter medical training for your agency or region, this episode will give you clear criteria for what to look for. youtu.be/tus68ab-uhU

A lot of training hours are spent on tactics. Incident management usually gets a smaller share of the schedule. What's one way your dept has found to work both tactics & incident management into your training time? Answer in the comments so other agencies can see what’s working.

Teachers & staff need to hear the hard truth: a lockdown may last hours, not 10–15 minutes, and they may sit 60–90 minutes before any update. Build that into pre-planning with a realistic timeline and a plan for holding students so the long wait isn’t a surprise when it happens.

When the police chief & fire chief go together to the city manager & council with a shared plan & budget for active shooter preparedness, it’s much harder for leadership to say no. A unified request from both signals' real priority.

For chiefs & leaders, “no budget” isn’t the end of the conversation: county, emergency management, state, DHS, FEMA, & other grant programs can all be tapped to fund active shooter incident management training. Watch the episode: youtu.be/mCB4ADjZiVk #ActiveShooterTraining

School safety & public safety training leaders from across Northeast Massachusetts spent a day on SSAVEIM in Lynnfield, MA. The goal of SSAVEIM is to give those leaders a shared model for managing a violent event on campus and the difficult reunification work that follows.

Contact teams can do more than just secure the scene: use tourniquets & basic medical kits, quickly triage the room into reds & greens, & pass that information to the medics when the Rescue Task Force arrives to speed up care and beat the clock. #LawEnforcement #ActiveShooter

law enforcement must first consider the suspect’s status (contained, down, or at large) before picking and securing an Ambulance Exchange Point (AEP), because moving patients outside adds significant risk if the shooter’s location is unknown. youtube.com/live/iXHgu7zom…

The first Rescue Task Force through the door has to step up and take charge in the casualty collection point: noting how they entered, spotting a better door for an ambulance exchange point, calling for additional RTFs, then beginning triage &treatment. youtube.com/live/iXHgu7zom…
