A similar study in Annals of Surgical in 2010 (ow.ly/ijMo50TfOqj ) with same inclusion criteria for HCC found OS and RFS were significantly lower in the ablation group compared to the surgical group. Why do you think the findings were different 14 years later? #ASOchat

@AnnSurgOncol my interpretation: both resection / ablation are salvageable w/ min diff in OS vs. primary liver tx upfront (not prospective, small sample size). You don't have to feel bad about not upfront transplant a pt w/3cm unifocal HCC. If recurs, go to transplant. @ASTSChimera
