Here is what I learned this Gold Cup
1) Canada fans are hilarious
2) 🇲🇽 fans are predictable
3) 🇲🇽 still can’t beat our best team
4) A lot of guys on that roster don’t belong anywhere close to our NT- Morris, Roldan, Long, Miazga, Zendejas, Gressel, Yedlin just to name a few

@THEChrisKessell @GoldCup My hot take is that despite all the complaints by US fans about the Gold Cup no longer being important, it is an important tournament—because of what the teams & fans from all the countries that aren’t the US or Mexico get out of it. Okay, so maybe not about #USMNT but 🤷♂️

@socceralt Except that we didn't get 3 vs Miami; consistently underperform against inferior teams. In a vacuum you would have a point, but not "great" the way we ended up with those 4 points.

@AmbroseFord2 @THEDanVaughn Yes, I think that's a decent bet. Either they know it's going to pass, or they know it's so close to 50/50 that they think the reaction will sway a few owners to vote for it and push it over. I doubt we'll see it voted down by a significant margin.

I get why he's on the field now (multitude of problems there), but my point was let's look to move him as soon as practical. Don't think it's good for Austin nor for Kipp to keep this going another year or two.

@PhoenX_YT Because Cascante is not a great defender either. He's rated by Wolff for his attacking qualities, not his defense, and praised for contributing to the attack. So he attacks first and defensive position is an afterthought.

@socceralt @ScottASpecht He's a mistake-prone 23 year-old defender with consistent brain-farts. It's not like we're discussing a 17 year-old here. I'd say, at minimum, he needs a change of environment to have any chance to develop into a serviceable CB.

@socceralt That's true, without some type of salary cap. Pro/Rel + salary cap (in some form) should reward well-run clubs. The economic disparity in European leagues leads to the problem you cite (not the existence of Pro/Rel).

@AndrewVisnovsky They could certainly start with "pro" and not kick in "rel" until they reach a predetermined number of teams in the top and middle tiers. But eventually they must address the financial implications of relegation in some sort of revenue sharing.

@TheFalseNineTX He wouldn't even be saddest loss in the past month.
Djitte for me, followed by Gaines, Gabrielsen, Radovanovic, Romaña ('cause he ain't coming back) ... then I would have 5-6 more before Redes. Only sad thing here is that he was our first ever signing so we wanted him to succeed.

There is no point to keeping a player where Wolff isn't going to use him. Rodo backing Wolff for the foreseeable future means adios Romaña & Djitte, & almost certainly Ring too at this point.

@JBentley_ATX @futbol_critic Again, what I would expect from a mid-season Precourt hire. None of us know anything based on this press conference. My suspicion is he's WolffNeutralWithBenefitOfTheDoubt . Wolff still clearly holds the power.
Real indication of Rodo's opinion will be sometime next year.

@CTLFClobos @futbol_critic He went out of his way to say good things about Wolff, including saying that Wolff being the coach was one of the things that attracted him to Austin. Definitely beyond standard welcome press conference platitudes.
