Most mothers spend FAR more time and effort making sure their daughters are properly educated for future careers than they do teaching and training their daughters to be good wives, mothers, and homemakers. This is a complete failure on their part, and a reason most marriages no longer make it.

Many years ago, my dad got a call from my school. I was in Grade 5, and the principal said it was urgent. My dad was busy with work, but he rushed over.
When he arrived, they told him I had “attacked” another student. My dad looked surprised but stayed calm…..

@JamesAFurey I was the department “fixer” for a number of years since I was certified in multiple sciences. I changed preps 11 times in 16 years. You bet I worked every single day. I even worked Christmas one year just so I could present quality lessons.

Okay, I know, and I’m sorry. But…
If you’re taking “massive amounts” of work home as a teacher past, say, your second year, you really need to reconsider how you’re doing things.
Good teaching does NOT require this much work.

Student: So why is it a zero?
Me: Do you plan on doing it?

Closed my astronomy class for the year with a mini lesson on the winter solstice and the mix of Paganism and early Christianity. The kids seemed super interested and engaged. We'll see if anyone complains

@OuizerTeacher Once, as a first year teacher in a district, I was observed first period on Jan 2. It was my chemistry lab period and I was written up for not performing a physical lab. Instead I had introduced the new unit and had students practice balancing equations.

@txsalth2o Check with your school before giving cash. Many districts outright forbid monetary gifts to teachers - mine did. It was seen as a bribe and could get a teacher in big trouble!
