I have some friends in humanities academia who tell me about culture on the ground in progressive spaces. Basically it went from total love-fest in 2012 to total gibbering insanity in 2018, and is now slowly returning toward love-fest. I expect something similar happened in the 60s-80s. Liberal culture will come back, I think. But I'll be an old man by then, and I had to spend my 30s watching the culture I loved die. On the ground, not just online, it died...

They were incubating in academia since the 90s. Obama elevated them to political power through appointments. Catherine Lhamon transformed education with Dear Colleague letters while Eric Holder destroyed policing with consent decrees. I don’t know how they captured media organizations like Vice and Gawker that were frat houses in the 2000s, but it might have had something to do with Twitter algorithms. In any case, Twitter is what allowed them to get people fired.

The thing that brought down liberal culture was social media. We made creeps like this the little emperors of our society, just because they could get a little mob to follow them around on Twitter and Facebook and yes-man their aggressive nonsense.

The Democrats just outdid themselves. Not only did they refuse to back voter ID, they actually proposed a nationwide BAN on photo voter IDs. It couldn’t be any clearer that they are cheating in our elections.
