@WynneRichport Guzzlord is a symbol of greed causing destruction. It’s often considered the opposite to Zygarde (both due to design and function).
Works perfectly as the opposing force considering the themes of the game.
Imagine an evil hungry Kirby. Terrifying and versatile.

@CaylaCapsule I do think an Ultra Beast caused it, but I'm not 100% about it being the Ultra Ruin universe. Sounds like the initial catastrophe may have been back to back hurricanes striking Alola, and Guzzlord can't summon hurricanes.

@Yoriden150 A common theory is that that is Giovanni. He had a Persian, isn’t from Galar, and would have been away from Kanto during the time of SwSh assuming timeline is relatively consistent.

@aDrive_tK Steel was also meant to be a defensive counter to Psychic, as it resists Psychic. In gen 1, the only type that resisted Psychic was Psychic.

Psychic types once dominated Pokémon, breaking Gen 1 with no real counters. Game Freak had to invent Dark types and buff others just to balance them. While still strong, Psychic is now a respected vet, no longer the undisputed king. #PokemonLore #GamingHistory

@Yoriden150 Why would they make the ghost type worse? So far new types always had a competitive reason behind them. Psychic too powerful in gen 1? Add a type that’s good against it (dark) and a type that resists it (steel). Dragon is running the meta? Time to add fairy! But rn it’s balanced.

Just some *light* speculation...
If Light type does wind up being a thing, I think the type that most has to fear it is Ghost, not Dark, as Ghost is really the "shadow" type.

Isn’t southern dialect used whenever Kansai dialect is used in the Japanese text? In recent games, Kansai indicates Johto, aka the region most closely tied with historical traditions. Could this just be a roundabout way of indicating that Kyogre is ancient? 🤔

@hsinhsung9487 @PokeSuutamie I think the English translators tried to make Kyogre sound old by giving him a sort of Texas accent. Which doesn’t mean old to English speakers, so there have been a lot of jokes about it.
It’s especially funny bc they translated Arceus’s dialogue to actually sound old in PLA.

@CaylaCapsule @PokeSuutamie Pretty sure I heard nothing about Kyogre using Kansai dialect in Pokopia. Iirc it's just they talk like they are old (which makes sense).

@pokedexobscura Si, y el Pokémon que destruyo el mundo es Guzzlord probablemente. Hay dialogo en los juegos de gen 7 como la gente fue la tierra en un otro realidad porque Guzzlord. (Espanol es mi idioma secondaria; lo siento si no escribo bien.)
