Donald Trump is making a deliberate attempt to overwhelm the system, and to overwhelm you. It can be difficult to keep up. And that’s by design. But we can keep up – and respond. Here’s what he’s doing, and what it means for you. Just the facts. 🧵⤵️

@aliciaandrz The pendulum swings, and we can be glad that this is not a Poe story, no matter how it feels. Perhaps someday it will come to rest in the center. Your weariness is evidence of your humanity. Hold fast to your humanity, though it be painful.

I’m so tired. intellectually I know it’s a combo of academia, motherhood, mental illness, & the political climate but emotionally I feel like a failure. I know I’m not the only one who feels like I’m on the precipice of drowning with no relief in sight, though. it’s all a lot.

I need people to understand how difficult it is to get an NIH grant. You spend months writing a proposal, following strict guidelines that include a detailed multiyear budget, bios of everyone on your team, plans for participant safety & ethical conduct. Then you send it off -1/n

By suspending all grant funding overnight is a huge waste of taxpayer money and a completely inefficient use of federal resources. Science and research make us competitive and even a short pause can lead to unconscionable delays in paying staff and running time-sensitive studies.

Soundless Minds: When the Mind Hears No Inner Voice Anauralia, the inability to imagine sounds or inner voices, affects an estimated 1% of people and often coexists with aphantasia, the lack of visual imagination. Researchers have identified a wide spectrum of auditory imagery, from individuals who can vividly recreate symphonies in their minds to those with completely silent inner worlds. Recent studies suggest that a silent mind, while lacking imagined auditory experiences, may enhance attention and focus. Anauralia has no significant downsides and instead highlights the diversity in how humans process mental imagery. Researchers propose that those with silent minds may rely on non-sensory mental representations, such as abstract or symbolic thinking, instead of vivid auditory or visual imagery. These findings provide insights into the neurological and psychological diversity of human cognition.

Hey friends. This isn't the update we were hoping for. After just two weeks in his new home, Crunchy is back at NHS. In the interest of being transparent and to hopefully help him find the right fit, we're going to tell you exactly what happened.
