Insane immigration queue at SFO. Sometimes you are just unlucky, and it’s a good chance to develop patience. It’s not good for us if we have everything our way.
Wine people. What are some up and coming regions, producers, or grapes that you’re excited about right now and you think will continue to catch on in 2024?
It's been fascinating to taste through some aged examples of Xarel.lo from the excellent Celler Credo this weekend. The natural acidity of Xarel.lo doesn't get it's due; even at 8-9 years old, these are so refreshing!
First Autumn purchases and I'm digging deep into the new wave of Spanish Garnacha. Some absolute stunners in here from all across the country.
@mattwallswine - I haven't forgotten that we need to do a Spain vs France Garnacha battle one day!

Landon Donovan and Brian McBride goals lift the USMNT over Mexico 🇲🇽 2-0 in the World Cup Round of 16. A transcendent game in which the scoreline became an indelible piece of football iconography.
Where were you?
This may be the greatest one liner in a college football game: @MarkJonesESPN: “TCU is running through Oklahoma faster than a stimulus check.” He and @RGIII are an awesome duo.
LOOKING FOR OLD VINE WINES. Hunting for single cuvees which are bottled exclusively from very old vines ie. NOT old vine fruit blended with younger vine grapes. Anyone know of any producers who have such wines commercially available? #oldvines#oldvinewines#oldvineconference
This is an unbelievably fantastic dry Austrian Riesling. Find it and back up the truck. You’ll be happy you did and you’ll thank me forever. I mean it.
Thank goodness, decades of making bulk wines in all but a couple of regions miraculously spared some old vineyards in Spain. So now in reborn, Burgundy-inspired Bierzo we can have a 19 La Bienquerida by Losada from 106 yr old vines, mostly mencía. Classy, smooth.
2020 Castell del Remei Garnatxa. First varietal garnacha from Costers del Segre I've tasted. Fruity, feisty, a bit too alcoholic (15.5%). Spain is awash with garnacha suddenly. Because of Priorat's success? I'd say because of Gredos' success.
