This is the main thread for today A midday official update below on evolving conditions behind the Iowa blob now approaching #Chicago in a diminished but rumbly state Cold front, main trigger for round 2, well back in Iowa and atmospheric recovery underway behind and south of the blob and ahead of the front. This should maintain the forecast for strong storms to fire by 3PM west of the MS River and move into IL. The extent and strength of this development frames the level of severity when they reach the metro area As noted below, new watches, likely tornado watches, should be issued later this afternoon

@declatom well i certainly wish you were my teacher then. we pretty much only did it to meet a quota required by the assignment.. we were told to make ‘observations and draw conclusions’ but were never given any real examples lol. kinda ruined reading for me

@ChicagoAlek i mostly refer to it as "talking to the text" with my students, referencing the idea of reading something and it provoking thoughts within you, creating opportunity for "conversation"
like even writing "wow fuck that guy" in the margin about a character is legitimate engagement

when you read for you, whatever that looks like (aka not for school or work), do you annotate in any way? i want to emphasize this could be anything from "lol" in margins to actually taking notes. have those tendencies changed with age?
