The ASTSG's member Vincent Nijman and colleagues conducted 280 market surveys in Java and Bali between 2014 and 2020. During these surveys, they recorded 24358 Javan Pied Starlings on sale, making it one of the most commonly observed birds in the market: mdpi.com/1424-2818/13/6…

Recent find from one of our co-founders, @sicilyfiennes - a book sold at Portobello Road Market, London from 1933 of cigarette cards focused on aviculture- some birds are still popular today- such as the Javan Sparrow and Rosy-faced Lovebirds!

Over 25 000 birds were rescued in Indonesia last month. The birds were seized on multiple occasions, including a smuggling attempt of 10 995 birds on 30/06, which was interrupted by the Nature Conservation Agency and Regional Police of West Nusa Tenggara.
