To be clear @Moneybox on Saturday is not being cut. But its Wednesday sister programme Money Box Live is being axed. A very sad decision not just for the excellent presenter @FelicityHannah who has so made it her own and the great producers who have worked on it but for the growing audience it serves at such a low cost.

@2hrTV Yeah, the thing with MOTU is that it’s good, but also the people who made it haven’t actually released it in cinemas. So the producers are in profit, the distributors maybe not. She also got the budget wrong. I must concede I don’t think we’ll get a cinema sequel though.

@ChorleyRobbie Some people look for imagined things that confirm their bias. The only negativity I'm seeing is from people who haven't seen the film and are refusing to see it for reasons they've created in their own heads. Its odd. That person was saying they knew the "metrics". 🤷‍♂️

@2hrTV Back in the old days I’d buy Screen International from a newsagents in Preston and be the only person I knew reading about box office. Now the figures are everywhere and everyone thinks they’re an expert, using outdated models and failing to understand how films are paid for.

@ChorleyRobbie No. I got blocked so only saw your half of what was going on. Seemed to not like me having a contradictory experience from actually watching the film. Called me a fucking idiot. Riled herself up. It was all very odd.

@Charlotte_Stein @2hrTV That you think Amazon need $400m from cinema screens to get their money back shows how little you unserstand. But on your second point the sorts of audiences who might have watched this are not going to cinemas in pre-Covid numbers. Exhibitors and studios need to look at why.

@ChorleyRobbie @2hrTV No they haven’t got their money back. They’re gonna be about 400 million short of breaking even. And the reason films like MOTU don’t have legs or good OW is because audiences are tired of things like this, as I said in my first post.

This is it. This is all it is. To most it just looks like yet another superhero type movie starring a hulking white guy. Conceptually dated on top. It needed to be an incredible original brilliant movie to overcome this massive disadvantage, and it just didn’t hit that.

to be old enough to have nostalgia for He-Man the first time, you have to be pushing 50, and unlike other stuff from around that time like Transformers or TMNT, it never had a reinvention that stuck to update it for a more recent generation

@Charlotte_Stein @2hrTV They’ve largely got their money back, and the franchise continues, though not necessarily with a She-Ra based sequel. The question is why don’t many of these films have theatrical legs post-Covid and blaming individual films you don’t like is not an answer.

@ChorleyRobbie @2hrTV They absolutely do give a shit. Their released statement about this is common studio spin. There will be no new life on streaming, and no sequel.

@Charlotte_Stein @2hrTV Oops, I meant “tell their friends”. Anyhoo, shame it’s not attracting people to cinemas but it will do well at home. And Amazon aren’t taking a hit on the cinema release anyway so they don’t give a shit.

@ChorleyRobbie @2hrTV I can’t decide if all of you are this incredibly delusional or just paid by the studio. It’s one thing to just like a defend a film, quite another to insist everybody loved it with scores like that and a mega bomb performance at the box office.

@Charlotte_Stein @2hrTV In the opening weekend PostTrak poll kids gave it 5/5, parents gave it 4.5/5. 68% said they would tell themselves it’s a must-see. But sometimes anons on the internet create lazy narratives that then becomes the general perception.

@2hrTV @Charlotte_Stein It's a cracking film and audience feedback (from most people who have actually watched it, eg by comscore audience surveys) has been very positive. It will find it's audience on streaming.

@Charlotte_Stein It did. It was the best way it could be approached. My partner loved it and doesn't have the connection to it I did. And there were children in the audience. Its fun funny, entertaing and just pure joy. I left the cinema feeling like a kid again.

Had a fantastic time watching #SometingRotten at @PalaceAndOpera last night. Waited 10 years to see this and did not disappoint. If you enjoy musicals, Shakespeare, and comedy (not necessarily in that order) you'll love this.

@2hrTV These are the guys doing the Doctor Who CBBC show. I guess they’re waiting for designs and/or cast before making an official announcement: blue-zoo.co.uk

Keep seeing posts like this, as if ITV have spent billions of pounds and a century building the New York skyline just for the World Cup, and not, say, just plonked a sofa, decking and pot plants on top of a warehouse for a month.
Dan Walker@mrdanwalker

As ITV unveil there super-snazzy Brooklyn studio for the World Cup I do feel a bit for the BBC who will broadcasting games back in Salford. The location will have cost ITV a fortune and the BBC can’t win… if they go then there is criticism every day about the cost and, if they don’t go, they get hammered for staying at home. Must feel very distant at the moment though.

Got this “sandwich kit” from @Tesco - a mere £3.50 not including bread! (I didn’t pay that much). Helpfully it includes instructions on how to make it a sandwich. Until now I’d always put bread in the middle - thanks Tesco for showing me the correct way!

Very much enjoyed #DisclosureDay. Spielberg returns to themes of certain classic films with an adult pov for the world we’re in today. I wish he still had the colour of his old films but at least John Williams is still there to push the buttons.

@GuyLambertUK @CameronYardeJnr This was surely the most ridiculous of all the stories! Why would they film in secret then keep it on the shelf for 6 months? Makes no sense even in its own bullshit.
