I know I've been pretty negative on Spielberg's Disclosure Day, but recently rewatching Close Encounters of the Third Kind has given me a renewed love and appreciation for that film. With its score, beautiful visuals and wonderfully flawed characters, it really is a great movie.

Disclosure Day is a really bad movie. It wants to be so many things, but it never develops any of its stories, characters or themes to be compelling in the slightest.

@TheMightyEye Yup, so many interesting questions that can be asked and situations that could have been created and explored...but it pretty much amounts to almost nothing.

@ChrisJHerman How bout how no one in the movie asks the question, why are there aliens coming all the way to Earth and what do they want?

Steven Spielberg should retire. Disclosure Day is the reheated, microwaved husks of his earlier and much better sci-fi films. The bad script, poor pacing, terrible CGI and dull characters made this such a bore to watch. Check out Project Hail Mary, Obsession or Backrooms instead.

Sir Idris Elba is good in Masters of the Universe as Duncan/Man at Arms. He has an actual arc involving duty, mentorship, and sacrifice.

Scary Movie (2026) is the worst kind of parody comedy. It's content to just make references to horror movies instead of actually parodying them.

I was already loving what I was seeing in Gears of War E-Day, but @TheJohnDiMaggio's line delivery here reminded me how much I love Gears. Can't wait to play this in October!

Is the action good in Masters of the Universe? The answer is yes. While the movie has problems, the action and fight choreography is a major highlight.

Scary Movie (2026) is very lazy. All it does is reference horror movies or pop culture without a comedic punchline. However, if you prefer people just screaming loudly and making dated cultural references, you'll slurp this up.

Does Masters of the Universe look good? The film does a pretty good job of translating the aesthetic of the cartoon to live-action. Trap Jaw, Tri-Klops and Skeletor all look great.

Is Scary Movie (2026) really bad? Oh, very much so. The Wayans Brothers prefer to just be loud, make dated pop culture reference and help sell Angry Orchard Hard Cider.

Is Masters of the Universe good? Well, it's a bit of a mixed bag, sadly.

Saw Scary Movie last week. The film is the worst kind of parody movie in that it barely contains anything funny and seem perfectly content to just be loud and make references to things without a punchline. Just an awkward embarrassment of a movie.
