@muddymildred @ChrisScheve @Donone243 CPB didn't cite his diplomatic passport. They reckoned he had terrorist ties. They applied Trump's interpretation of what it is to be Somalian. Chris's story is a fabrication.
English

@njm3864 @garykoepnick Making shit up? He tried to use a Diplomatic passport to “make it easier” and got caught.
English

@garykoepnick @ChrisScheve It had nothing to do with his diplomatic passport. This guy's making shit up.
The Trump administration reckon he had "links to terrorist organisations". He was Trumped.

One of the funny ironies of this race is Susan Collins comes from a thoroughly working class Irish-Catholic background in rural Northern Maine
While Graham Platner is the child of wealthy liberal WASPs & literally went to an out of state $70,000 a year prep school, his Grandfather (William Platner) was a famous modern architect
Susan Collins grew up as a farm hand in Caribou, Graham Platner grew up on a costal mansion
His entire identity is fake

Senate Republicans@NRSC
Graham Platner delivers scandals. Susan Collins delivers results. In Maine, the choice is clear.

Twice today @lyft has provided subpar service on the tech / app side. First it dropped my ride after picking me up which meant I had to pay their driver directly.
And this afternoon the drivers app kept sending her to a closed road. A road that is closed every day at this time. 🤬🤬🤬

@commutative_fun @boppie67996708 @MKE_Yusuf Lots of referees work hard to try and get to the World Cup. It wasn’t taken from him. He failed to do the hard work to get approved for a visa.
English

@ChrisScheve @boppie67996708 @MKE_Yusuf Hi, from all accounts, he applied and was denied.
Secondly, he was denied entry because of links to certain groups.
Ultimately, this is stereotyping at work. What you have is someone who worked hard for years for the opportunity on the biggest stage and it was taken from him.

🚨🚨| BREAKING: The US say they have 𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐄𝐃 Somali referee Omar Artan entry for the World Cup over alleged links to 'suspected terror organisation members'. 🚫🇺🇸
English

@garykoepnick How about you go survey the teams and let us know.
English

@ChrisScheve How many other refs or team members were let in with diplomatic psssports?
English

@bearmom13 @awireman No. Turns out he was properly denied and even House Democrats who have been briefed have said the decision was appropriate.
English

@awireman @ChrisScheve After more research it appears he was not denied entry but couldn’t officiate matches in those countries because rules state he must stay at a secure training base in FL. Obviously can’t since he’s denied entry. Sorry for my error and sorry he and others have been denied entry.
English

So…he failed to obtain a P-1S visa and had to resort to Somalia trying to pass him off as Diplomat which failed.
And yes, the Diplomatic passport was a problem bc it didn’t have the right visa for him to enter. You cannot enter the US to referee on a diplomatic passport. The associated visas are incongruent with such a passport.

English

@Slyfoxstev1 @abuga_makori The visa didn’t match the use. The proper visa would be a P-1S. A guy showing up to ref with a diplomatic passport and a diplomatic visa is going to raise suspicions.
English

@ChrisScheve @abuga_makori I don’t understand, even with a diplomatic passport he still had a visa how is that any different from the “proper visa” in an ordinary passport?
English

@D88041Diana @ChrisTalksToo Oh look. A Nigerian pro Russia bot and a US pro Russian bot agreeing.
GIF
English

@ChrisTalksToo @ChrisScheve Yes, I know! And you’re right. It’s wrong in both instances.
English

And when diplomatic passports are handed out Willy nilly to “people of high esteem” then you should be able to understand why US CBP agents subject them to scrutiny when they try and use a diplomatic passport to bypass the proper visa.
Comments like yours just build the case for why it was proper to deny him entry.
English

@ChrisScheve Diplomatic passports are not only issued to diplomats. They can be given to people of high esteem in the society — trailblazers who have endured a lot in support of their countries.
English

@dilshangsilva @awireman Mexico didn’t let him in. He went back to Istanbul.
All he needed to do was apply for a P-1S visa.
English

@ChrisScheve @awireman Then why did Mexico let him in?
And all visitors need to be evaluated on context. If FIFA says, he is the ref and is visiting for that reason, then let him in.
English

@bartlettdaron All he had to do was apply for a P-1S visa which is a visa specifically for high level international athletic events which are exempt from the ban on visas for Somalians.

English

@ChrisScheve True a country, every country can deny anybody entry for their own reason
English

@ChrisScheve @drogbaregenn You are just a brain dead American 😏
English

@OMikawi @drogbaregenn Maybe practice your reading comprehension before ranting next time.
English

@ChrisScheve @drogbaregenn But fifa wasn't the one who gave the diplomatic passport the government of Somalia did, did you even establish the facts before posting this rant?
English

@brunomariizza It means you are a bot. Bruno aka Brittney aka Hassan.
English

@ChrisScheve Does it mean I cannot comment, I'm traveling so what you mean by it 😂
English

Yes. Somalia can give a diplomatic passport to whoever they wish. And the US can deny entry to anyone who attempts to enter without a valid visa.
Artem’s attempt to use a diplomatic passport without the proper visa is why he was denied entry. And playing games with passports is another reason why visa applications from Somalia attract such scrutiny and have a high level of rejection.
English

Every country has its own categories of people they give diplomatic passports eg in Uganda, royal families, University chancellors, spouces to govt officials like ministers (i'm mentioning the least categories) are given diplomatic passports. What they are going to do whenever they travel might be personal. Government can not ask a king what he is going to do in the UK. Thats his business. What i'm saying, Somali could have given him this document because they believe he is a person of note and always on the move and he represents on top stages. US CANNOT determine who Somalia gives a diplomatic passport The Ref stated clearly that he had a work visa. What other sounding reason does the immigration need?
So no. The diplomatic reason you are speculating does not count at all because its not US that determines who gets what type of passport in foreign countries. NO
English

@ChrisScheve This is a political framing of an immigration-related claim and includes strong interpretation of motives. Without verified official details about the specific case, it’s not possible to confirm the reasons for denial or the broader conclusions being drawn from it.
