This sums things up perfectly. It was never about immigration for a large number, not about stopping boats. It’s just given them the freedom to express views that most decent folk thought had disappeared. Sad but would rather they were honest.

In fairness to Jim Ratcliffe, he has always put the UK economy and its jobs first. Like in 2010, when he shifted the corporate headquarters of INEOS to Switzerland and, around the move, sliced 4,000 jobs (a third of the workforce) out of the business in two years. A true patriot
