The Judicial Service Commission has announced that the Chief Justice of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Honourable Mr Luke Malaba, will be retiring from his positions as Judge and Chief Justice on the 15th of May 2026.
His last working day will be at midnight on May 14, 2026.
This is in accordance with Section 186(1) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, which provides that the Chief Justice holds office from the date of their assumption of office until they reach the age of 70. At this point, they must retire unless, before attaining that age, they elect to continue in office for an additional five years.
In 2021, Malaba elected to extend his tenure by an additional five years under the aforementioned provision.
Nelson Chamisa today ditched CCC party, its MPs and Councillors. He hopes to form another party which he will desert again after asking Zimbabweans to vote for it. He doesn’t deserve anyone’s confidence anymore. Come 2028, it’s victory again for ZANU PF.
It is now time to refocus on the People's Struggle. This is the struggle for democracy, justice, equality, rule of law, constitutionalism, and inclusive development. It is a struggle against the excessive taxation on already impoverished people.
Here is a GDP graph of the performance of two countries under economic sanctions.
1. Rhodesia is in red. It was under UN sanctions receiving assistance from US, UK, apartheid SA & others to bust them.
2. Zimbabwe under sanctions receiving assistance from China.
