@AdamSchefter this is absolutely horrible for the game. will be so easy to kick field goals and score touchdowns now with a shorter field and nobody will take kickoffs back wtf is the nfl doing
NFL’s kickoff proposal was separated into two votes today, one that passed, one that was tabled.
1) The football now moves to the 35 after a touchback - that passed.
2) No vote at this time on the onside kick modification. It will pick back up at the May meeting.
@AdamSchefter When you look at the improved long distance FG numbers, and all the rules in place favoring offense, putting the ball at the 35, on a touchback, basically leaves an offense needing 25 yards to have a legit FG try. It should be the 20.
@ComfortEagle1 I remember reading that they knew they wouldn’t “run out” of oil. That the oil companies coined the term “fossil fuels” and created scarcity so that they could start selling oil (I think it was basically free before that)
CREATING SCARCITY- IS IT A MYTH THAT WE HAVE LIMITED OIL AND GAS?
We all know the "fossil fuel" story: millions of years ago the dinosaurs all went extinct and over time their decomposing organic matter was transformed into oil. As a result we have a limited amount of fuel and we are running out. It's one of the main pillars of the green new deal movement.
But what if it isn't true. What if oil and gas aren't produced by millions of years of decaying organic matter?
As I was doing some research related to my post about the Trump administration opening up the ANWR preserve in Alaska to oil and gas exploration, I came across a decade old article by Investors Business Daily published in November 2015.
According to the article, "Thanks to investment into supercomputers, robotics and the use of chemicals to extract the maximum from available reservoirs, the accessible oil and gas reserves will almost double by 2050," Engineering and Technology said."
I was surprised to read that but the real eye opener came in the next paragraph:
"This information backs up the idea that Earth is actually an oil-producing machine. We call energy sources such as crude oil and natural gas fossil fuels based on the assumption that they are the products of decaying organisms, maybe even dinosaurs themselves. But the label is a misnomer. Research from the last decade found that hydrocarbons are synthesized abiotically."
The article goes on to state, "In other words, as Science magazine has reported, the "data imply that hydrocarbons are produced chemically" from carbon found in Earth's mantle. Nature magazine calls the product of this process an "unexpected bounty " of "natural gas and the building blocks of oil products."
And finally, "A BP official told the magazine that "energy resources are plentiful. Concerns over running out of oil and gas have disappeared."
I highlighted the critical language in bold and italics because its implications are profound. Does the earth actually produce oil without the need for decaying organic matter?
When I did a search for "abiotic oil production" one of the first results was a Wikipedia page about the topic. It's a pretty good discussion although it's clear the entire scientific community hasn't publicly embraced abiotic oil production concept fully. The article provides links to studies, articles and research conducted in support of the conclusion that yes, the earth is producing oil naturally.
The IBD article concludes, "So don't feel guilty about exploiting this "bounty." There seems to be plenty to go around — and there will probably still be a lot left when technology, not hurried by government mandates and subsidies but guided by market forces, produces practical and affordable renewable energy. But for now, enjoy our cheap, abundant and efficient "fossil" fuels."
For the curious, I'm posting the full IBD article below as well as the Wikipedia page.

@MarvelAfflicted@joeroganhq He used to travel the country and fight when he was in his teens until I think his early 20s.
He talks about it sometimes. I believe it was mainly tai kwon do and kickboxing. (Could be wrong there)
That’s why he hosts UFC. He did it for free at 1st because he loved martial arts
@TheRealRolehan@joeroganhq I see “Benny the Jet” reference and I hit the like button. Simple as that.
Over 50 bouts and Only loss on his record was when he agreed to not do leg kicks due to an injury for the other fighter.
(My dad would end up becoming the trainer to the fighter that won that fight)
It has only been 4 days since the Trump landslide and RFK Jr is already on the job to Make America Healthy Again!
Here RFK Jr now lays out the specifics for their “MAHA” plan.
God bless Donald Trump & RFK Jr.
@kittytrcker Most likely lying for fake bear hype.
Just like “Melvin Capital exited their short position” a few months before they blew up.
I’ll believe it when I see it.
@Hey_ross@HogenDazs@knotty_llama “Remember when Berkshire Hathaway was a textile company?”
I agree with @Hey_ross that they could be testing proof of concepts to become something way more successful than a video game retailer
