The challenges of our time are not political but religious. Therefore pastors, in interpreting and applying Scripture bring the burden of truth to bear on consciences so that hearers may walk in the fear of the Lord.

At Prairie Pastors Fellowship today we’re talking about theological education. Where will the pastors be trained? As seminaries are closing, others have enrolment increasing. At the same time the affordability of seminary is out of reach for most men. What should churches do?

@dansudfeld It brings to mind what is the difference between being alarmist and being naive. What is the duty of Christians? I don't think most people have a conception of how close or far away a Maoist/Soviet Union type of situation really is.

@ClintHumfrey Not surprising then, taking into account your previous post. Canada’s PM does not seem to be CCP-averse.

The federal government of Canada plan to remove the religious exemption in Bill C-9 means that it can decide that ill-defined "hate" is expressed by religious texts (the Bible). This is CCP-level censorship and coerced speech. i.e. state-mandated limits on Christian expression.

Rod's report shows CCP vulnerability to internal pressure: "What the Party least wants right now is “private discussions, especially those comparing Iran’s situation with the domestic circumstances”. Yet the Canadian government has created an alignment with the CCP.

Elders came to Shepherds Conf and it was a great experience this year. I wondered what would happen now that John MacArthur has passed. But Grace Community Church could continue serving pastors with the conference for a long time. Great teaching, singing and hospitality.

I wish to publicly thank Meghan Grant of the CBC in Calgary who has reported on the trial of Scott Brooks, a fraudster who had at one time ingratiated himself to a church community in order to lure investors into his elaborate frauds. Her report is below.

Hearing the panel at Shepherds Conference reflecting on John MacArthur’s legacy, I recalled that it was through radio, cassettes, TMU, and conferences like T4G that I had a chance to hear him and even meet him a few times (talking about Calgary mostly). His prescience about Lordship Salvation, the seeker sensitive movement and, still one of the most relevant issues, the vanishing conscience, were expressions of a pastoral wisdom that will long outlast him.

Yesterday, 8 churches in BC were removed from the Fellowship for maintaining that the pastoral office is reserved for biblically qualified men. They have been unjustly treated, but the Lord sees and He will vindicate the righteous. Our church is likely to be next.
