Coaches are on the road. 1. Be at school on time 2. Dress appropriately 3. Firm handshake and look Coaches in the eyes when speaking with them.

Great question. Being on a school’s “board” means you’re on their internal recruiting list at your position, where coaches stack prospects based on fit, evaluation, and priority. A typical board is layered by position with tiers or rankings, not always a strict 1 through 10 but more so grouped by how much they want you and how you fit their needs. I’ve seen it be done both ways. Your spot reflects how likely they are to push for you when it’s time to offer or take a commitment, but it’s fluid and can change quickly. For your process, it means you’re in consideration, not a guarantee. You can climb by improving your film, showing consistency, performing at camps, building real relationships with the staff, and fitting what they specifically need.

@CoachReamon What does it really mean to be on someone's "board" ? What does a typical board look like and what does your number/ranking on the board represent? What does that really mean for your recruiting process? Are there ways to climb it?

A position coach comes back from a spring contact trip and hits the recruiting meeting with a report on every school he visited. At most stops, it is a rundown of film, measurables, and what the high school coach said. But every now and then, he has something different to say. "The kid came up to me after the workout. Introduced himself. Asked about the offense. Looked me in the eye the whole time." Those kids end up higher on the board than their measurables should put them. Contact period is not a spectator sport. If a coach is at your school this week, go find him. Shake his hand. Be the kid he talks about when he gets back to the office.

Post Spring Ball Recruiting Notes Some Do's and Don'ts for unofficial visits - Arrive on time. Pay attention to the itinerary on report time, parking info, etc. - Be on time. (Problems happen which can cause you to be late, this isn't an issue. Notify your recruiting contact and it's all good. Over an hour early is an issue.) - Make sure to have questions ready for Personnel Staff, Recruiting Staff, Assistant Coaches, Head Coach. Questions like- how many HS guys do you plan to sign? How many guys have you offered at my position? Where do you see me on your board at the moment? What else do you need to see from me to improve my position? All these are good and valid questions, but be prepared for the answer as well. - Don't wear opposing schools gear on your visit. High school gear is great! No issues at all with that. - Make sure to have your phone on silent. If you get a call that you must take, excuse yourself from the area and handle your business. - Don't take anything that doesn't belong to you. - Don't wander off on your own tour. Everything is under evaluation. Everything. Run your own race. Comparison will steal your joy. Be thankful for where you are at the moment. If it's not exactly where you want to be, do something about it. We don't all start at the same point, and we don't all finish at the same time. Worry about your journey, not the guy next to you.

RECRUITS‼️ Tomorrow the spring contact period begins. College coaches will be routinely visiting your school. Make sure you are presentable and handle yourself in a professional manner. What are you like in the classroom? How hard do you work in the weight room? How do you treat your classmates and teachers? First impressions are 🔑
