One more thing, where do you enforce rate limiting? → API Gateway level (before it hits your servers) — most efficient → Middleware level (inside your app) — more flexible, can be per-route → Service level (each microservice) — granular but complex Most large systems use API Gateway + per-service limits together.

Today I learned how Rate Limiting actually works under the hood. I always knew it as "the thing that stops you from spamming APIs." Turns out the implementation is way more interesting than I expected 🧵
