@bnorval48 @dickdudley123 All of which I've pointed out to IBCA and government. I wasn't passing judgement, simply trying to explain government-think. My point is that nobody with HIV from this scandal, most of whom also have HCV is "alright" simply because their compensation level is higher.

Attempting to explain government-think on HIV vs HCV tariffs, I get this from another campaigner: "Spoken like a true soon to be multimillionaire. I'm alright Jack and pull the ladder up." I had AIDS before medication was available. 4/5 of us are dead. I'm not alright, Jack.

@Gooders2023 I agree, Steve. What was once a compassionate, caring community has fractured into something unrecognisable since the first announcement of compensation. Virus against virus, infected against affected, alive against estates. Truly saddening.

@dickdudley123 Spot on. Instead of being grateful for relatively better health for longer and more optimistic probable outcomes for healthy life expectancy, some choose to focus on how much money others are due to receive in compensation. I know which one I'd rather have.

@CoderMonkey I’ll take a guess that “campaigner” was hep c only and trying to justify the “hiv is just a virus” argument that conveniently ignores the long term effects and stigma still felt by those with hiv…

We have a broader knowledge of the evidence behind Haemophilia infections, but we have a huge number of those from the whole blood community and many affected as well, for all of whom we fight and provide support. HIV makes up only a small number of our members.

@TaintedbldMedia @cazjwheeler @CoderMonkey @Keir_Starmer The problem is TB often say they fight for "everyone" when what they actually mean is they only fight for the Haemophilia community but even then the HCV Haemophilia community don't feel included in TBs campaign work as they also focus on the HIV Haemophilia victims.

There are many heroes from the contaminated blood campaign, but I am so pleased to see my friend Andy Evans @CoderMonkey given a gong in the ST alternative honours. I hope a real one turns up for him and other fearless campaigners soon. @Keir_Starmer thetimes.com/uk/society/art…

Thank you so much, Caroline! I'm very humbled by this. There are many, many others who deserve just as much recognition for their work uncovering this scandal, but I'm so pleased that we've reached a point where something like this is even possible for our community.

Andrew Evans, TB Chairman: “Whilst news the first ten infected blood victims have finally been paid compensation, Sir Brian Langstaff, in the Inquiry's Second Report told the goverment to have paid victims by end 2023. 100 have died waiting. This is nothing to celebrate.

Most of us aren't steeped in parliamentary, legal or civil service language so can only make sense of things through tweets etc.
