Caught and ringed on 7th March 2025 this bird was tentatively identified by our team as Common Cuckoo, Cuculus canorus. Following recently received DNA test results this has now been confirmed making it the first modern record for The Gambia.

Singing Bush Lark, Mirafra cantillans. Caught and ringed today, the first record for Kartong Bird Observatory. Scarce on the South Bank of The Gambia River this species is very rare in southern Gambia.
