@Amazing_Rando69 @CeraGibson Capitalism needs justification to even try and fund this research, which investors often do not find valuable enough for some stupid reason ir another. It is literally always capitalisms fault, man.

My hot take is that birth rates need to decline in the short term so that in the long term, we aren’t completely void of resources and ozone. “The economy will collapse.” There is more than enough wealth on the planet to go around. Capitalism is built on exponential population growth. It cannot survive without it. You’re fed a narrative about birth rates that protects our current economic system. It feels like there isn’t enough capital to go around because a handful of people are hoarding it, and passing the consequences onto you. We are nowhere near extinction due to population decline. We are far more likely to go extinct because of climate change. Are we presently equipped to handle a majority elderly population in a few decades? No. Could we be if we valued actual longevity over production? Yes.

@Michaelknife1 If someone’s being sexually harassed, interrupt the harasser with something random like “I like your trainers”. That’s the whole message. Clearly written by someone who has never been outside

"But Dan why is it one of your favourites?" I'm glad you asked, well, it's because it's so HOT. I like it because it is so clearly an anatomically accurate representation of a mature woman who has had children. The fat distribution is so lovingly sculpted but also the muscular, strong legs of a hunter-gatherer. It's so accurate it could be a portrait of an individual, not just an "idealised" general idea of a woman like this. Despite that, the prominent genitalia and the belly button too also signal femininity and (post-)birth, so she does also represent *successful* fertility, and longevity. I love it because it was made by a real artist and by someone who loved women and their bodies.

Millennials (now nearing 40) have constructed this reality where positions of authority like cops can only be performed by people who are older than them. When they’re 70 they’ll be mad a 55 year old is arresting them

The price of electricity in Cuba is extremely high, and the Americans involved in the aid know this very well. What happened today is one of worst crimes ever committed. Read carefully what I'm about to say: as soon as the first wave of American aid arrives, people rush to get electricity first. Today, the Americans deliberately placed the electricity in a separate area. Today, they dug a deep pit just before the electricity zone, covered it with nylon, and lightly sprinkled it with dirt so no one would notice. The starving reached the electricity first, and seven people fell into the pit. Then an American bulldozer came and buried them alive. Meanwhile, a man in his fifties was returning from the aid area, nearly collapsing. He held it and said to me: "I'd rather die of my ventilator not working than take this 'aid' again."

@sibaburck Why not leave it to the free market then? If there’s not enough meat for everyone, prices will go up until only a sustainable amount of people get it. No need to ban it

@JC458735k5z @abhinav999911 @Slimthegoober @Haoshoku Except other people’s dogs still are useful to humans - maybe not me, but there is a human who benefits. A dog that has no utility to people I do not particularly care what happens to. I wouldn’t go out of my way to hurt it, but it doesn’t get special consideration

@CommonW99 @abhinav999911 @Slimthegoober @Haoshoku thats a fair reason but also why base value on how much they benefit you? we can treat strangers without harm even if they dont help you, we can treat other peoples dogs without harm even though theyre not your pet yk what i mean?
