Indians taking away jobs Americans do again, SMDH.

@AviWoolf Trying to earn my bread honestly was a mistake.
How do I find one of these 6-figure jobs where my purpose is to accomplish nothing or perhaps make things worse?

@AviWoolf I'm just amazed at how obviously not-Christian Trump is, yet so many supposed Christians fall for his transparent ruse. Remember his shibboleth of "Two Corinthians"?
English

You're the party of militant secularism. Take all the seats, please.

Trump reads a Bible verse encouraging followers to not "turn away ... and go and serve other gods and worship them." (Trump posted a image depicting himself as Jesus last week)

Id say your second point is off. Men feel paternal instincts towards children, it just looks different because Men understand the boundaries of "this isn't my child so I have no place to interfere"
But a (well-adjusted) man will have the instinct to run into danger to save a child that's not theirs.
These "dad simulators" are never about the man *wanting* to have the child, it's about the man willingly taking on the responsibility that has been thrust on them by fate to protect the child. Its about gaining meaning for their eternal struggle forward.
Men fight for the future. Children symbolize the future.
And positive "dad themed" media might indicate that our culture is starving to death for the return of the father in the home after drowning in unchecked girlboss single mom feminism.

@ContextVariable I mean. I know that's the law. But I'm not sure I'd be able to convict her for this, were I on the jury.

@politicalmath Then again, I made a movie with some friends (for a school project) as a teen with a budget of "whatever we already owned or could easily make". It was fun. So it's not that hard.

@politicalmath Young men often have the passion and energy to accomplish feats they're to ignorant to realize are impossible.

@AviWoolf Immigrants coming to America and adopting American culture without abandoning their own.
That's America to me.

@AviWoolf This ia one of my favorite commercials ever. It's in Tagalog, but it's one of the most "MURICA"-American commercials possible. A car dealership commercial.

@AviWoolf It's SCARY when you're not making enough *with* handouts to suddenly be making less. That fear can be paralyzing.
It can be really hard to find a job that will pay enough to make up for that loss if you've been unemployed for a while. That's scary too.
English

@AviWoolf 1,000%. I've been on government handouts and known plenty of others wbo have as well. It's very difficult to get off them because if you get a job that pays just enough, you have a much smaller income.
It incentivizes keeping your part-time job and staying underemployed.

The welfare cliff needs to be a gradual slope.
Anthony Bradley@drantbradley
Welfare programs incentivize the opposite of what people need to do to get out of poverty. “I feel like I got punished for getting a job,” said said Jaela Jackson, 22. Much worse in the 1970s/80s when low-income women were evicted if they got married or opened a savings account.
English

@JulieCFrost Is this the way it should be?
I'm not God so I'm not going to pretend I can say with authority. But that is how it is. And we're lucky that we even have this much. Too much of the world actually literally criminalizes self-defense even while you are being attacked.
English

@JulieCFrost It's why that guy in Florida who killed that pedo was convicted.
It was clear as day the pedo wanted to hurt kids again and likely would. But just going up to him and killing him while he was minding his own business and not trying to hurt a kid was still murder.
English

@JulieCFrost The thing is, defense of self and others only applies to immediate threats.
English

@ContextVariable She was in fear for her daughter's life. Maybe not right that second, but he certainly posed a viable threat, which she proceeded to neutralize quite handily.
