@Andrewnsnyder This is a much better way for Colbert to spend his time. For the sake of his soul and joy I hope he can ignore current events and immerse himself again in Middle Earth. I hope his efforts are worthwhile.

@MillerDakotaJ I really love the histories. Favorites are Henry IV part 1 and 2 and Henry V. I also love the big ones: Hamlet, Macbeth, Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, etc

@mishapathy Carve out 1-4 hours a month and visit a nursing home. Elderly people will be happy to hold your hand and pat your arm while you ask them about their lives.

This is sort of embarrassing, but how do single people meet their physical contact needs?

@Jason_Trice Sometime this last year on X I read what has become my favorite statement about death: “he has left the land of the dying and joined the land of the living.” May you and your family be blessed.

My heart is full. Yesterday we celebrated my Dad. He always said he wanted peace and contentment. I think he found it. I’m sharing what I said at his service here. I’m a lucky duck 🦆 open.substack.com/pub/thegratidu…

@WonderWomaNinja My favorite song to belt out at maximum volume is Linda Ronstadt’s “Different Drum”. You’d do great with it.

I ordered the “flaming cheese shrimp fajitas” at our favorite Mexican place tonight. Was disappointed that it was not literally on fire. Still delicious though.

I have memories of my dad spending hours upon hours working on taxes. Pouring through depreciation schedules to figure out how to save money from old farm equipment. Our dining room table covered in piles of papers for weeks. It was a complicated mess.

@AppyOrtho If you are contrarian perhaps you could consider becoming Baptist? (joking, I’m a Baptist)

Funny, my Irish line from Donegal was part of the 4% of native Irish who converted to the Church of Ireland (1600s) One of my Scottish lines was a teeny minority who refused to leave the Catholic church and become Presbyterians. I think maybe my DNA is just contrarian 🤣

It's St. Patrick's Day, and that means time to look back at the Alabama Leprechaun. Said one wizened crone at the time, "It could be a crackhead got hold of the wrong stuff." Maybe so, but lo, brethren and sistren, we live in an enchanted world! 🤣🍀 youtube.com/watch?v=K1ljOc…

@Strangeland_Elf I’m with you except for butter knives. Every one I’ve ever seen is right-handed. They oppress me and mock me and I won’t have them in my kitchen.

@jameszimmermann I’m so grateful for Willard’s books. He has profoundly shaped my faith. I’m so glad (and slightly envious) that you got to take his class.

I’m a devout Catholic but as a kid I was nothing. My dad was raised Catholic and my mom is Methodist and their plan was to let me figure things out. We were nominally Christian and I church hopped with friends but it wasn’t until college that the light came on: I took a Metaphysics class senior year with Dallas Willard, an ordained Baptist minister who realized he could convert more people in the classroom than from the pulpit. He didn’t mention Jesus a single time but I left that class convicted He was the only logical explanation for anything. At the bottom of everything you know lies something you believe, and until you figure out what that is you can’t really know anything. There are many paths to Christianity, philosophy is one of them.
