Black American cultural nationalism - Delineate - Immerse in the culture and community - Become versed in our history - Do your genealogy - Learn to play the Blues - Develop at least one unique artistic and/or cultural innovation to your name

@itsme__1999 @PJenkins1931 This holds true mostly in terms of edm DJ *mixing But, it's a lot less true when it comes the actual musical aspect. The vast majority of the black pioneers here weren't gay Just look at the samples, drum patterns, and bass patterns used throughout edm

Music is sound and sound is science. As we work to create new Freedmen towns & schools, music programs will be a big part of the curriculum. Modern day Black American music, much of it, has TRULY TRULY lost it's way. A lot of HORRIBLE hyper sexual violent madness being released.

Cultural education shouldn't be treated as extracurricular. It's the glue that keeps us together as a community. Learning the basics of our music ie Blues, from the time Black kids are able to read and write should be treated as an essential skill on par with literacy.

@CutnPaid Black men have got to stop thinking that our lives revolve around our mothers. It doesn’t. You aren’t her man.

African Americans don't need to adopt model minority mentalities that reject career aspirations in the arts and humanities. We've always been huge patrons and supporters of the arts. The culture is strong because our parents didn't force us all to be lawyers or doctors.

@Nuubion Canonically, the start in the American chattel slavery. That's the genesis of the lineage of this culture.

@amanofthesoil Who themselves were a coastal people descended of male European(Portuguese in this case) traders and local African women. They were particularly influential West African and Western European cultural exchange didn't necessarily start or only happen in the new world.

Richard Jobson made this observation in Gambia (1620). It is the earliest reference I've found for possible tuning pegs in West Africa. The preponderance of evidence points to a Caribbean (i.e. American, not African) origin for the early gourd banjo.

@amanofthesoil The Banjo is a BLACK AMERICAN instrument full stop Black Americans created it. That's the beginning and end of it Otherwise we can sit here all day and talk about Black contributions to the American fiddle as well

The gourd drum with strings & neck comes from Africa, but the fingerboard, tuning pegs, nut, and tailpiece are from Europe. Banjos were a hybrid instrument developed by hybrid people.
Zero@24kzero0

@Michaelarmstart @AdriCaporusso Pull up a source that says white people invented the banjo
