@Mericamemed My 14 year old recently pointed out tha millennial music is incredibly “freaked out” and I swear I can’t unhear it now 😂😂😂😂😂😂

@SheLoves_Thee About the level of inclusivity our community consistently offers others vs what we receive in return. Said plainly, if there were HLCUs do we honestly think there would be equal opportunity given to Black students athletes? Hope you don’t take this the wrong way 😘
English

@SheLoves_Thee Not saying you’re wrong and not saying I disagree BUT there is a bit of nuance missing here. If you have a Black athlete aspiring to attend an HBCU right now…you MIGHT perhaps see things a little differently. Recent elections have also made some of us a little apprehensive
English

This is disgusting to make an article basically parroting racist rhetoric of this manner. If anything it shows that HBCUs are inclusive. Don’t see this type of rhetoric when speaking on soccer, tennis, golf, bowling.. it’s weird seeing HBCU alums talk in this manner.

OPINION: The fairest observation of Bethune-Cookman is not that its roster contradicts the HBCU mission, but that it lays bare baseball's relationship with Black Americans at all levels, writes HBCU Sports senior editor Kendrick Marshall.

@Down4Mizzou @NickEden Which is why I think the NIL convo is ironic, these kids are was training at the-semi-pro level in elementary school…they absolutely deserve to be compensated for their talents when/if they make it to college.

Can we have a real discussion about baseball? It’s not that it’s too expensive. We just don’t care to make the investment because we’ve decided as a culture, it’s not as sexy as basketball or football.
From 5 to 16, I played baseball before my accident. Is it expensive? Sure, but no more than the modern day expenses that parents are paying for other sports. I was a catcher, which is legitimately the most expensive uniform on the diamond. But let’s be honest:
I work with children every day.
- Those cleats are nowhere near as expensive as Jordans.
- Those gloves are nowhere near as expensive as iPhones.
- That helmet can’t touch the price of that iPad.
- The schedule is no more hectic than y’all having your kids in year round basketball between the school team and AAU.
Let’s also be brutally be honest when we say that the kids in the DR playing stickball aren’t getting recruited because of their equipment.
As a whole, we abandoned baseball a long time ago. Even with the success of pro dual sports athletes like Jackson, Sanders, and Jordan, we still abandoned it even though the numbers support it being the sport that is the most probable to go pro.
1.2% of Division 1 basketball players go on to play pro
2% percent of Division 1 football players go on to play pro
10% of Division 1 baseball players go on to play pro.
Seems to me that the investment is worth it, although pro ball dreams being the primary driver is another issue for another time.

@NickEden For those of you who are just here to “well actually” me…show me a receipt for a $500 basketball or football

English

@NickEden As the mom of a current softball player I have to completely and strongly disagree with this take. This shit is EXPENSIVE. My daughter has had ONE Black teammate and ONE biracial teammate in all her years of the sport. We can’t just narrow it down to “it’s not as sexy as…”
English

@Down4Mizzou @NickEden I actually have heard that soccer is ever worse as far as level of competition expected to even sneeze at the opportunity to play for your high school team 😳
English

@Down4Mizzou @NickEden Exactly, if my kid weren’t as competitive and driven as she is she would’ve been just fine in our local city league. My uncle was blown away by the cost, he went to college on a baseball scholarship in the early 90s and never played “travel” anything.
English

@JimBobCrackKorn @NickEden Not saying you’re wrong, just saying your experience doesn’t negate my own and it’s a lot more nuisance than just the few people you know with kids in other (also expensive) extracurriculars.
English

@JimBobCrackKorn @NickEden That’s YOUR experience. I live in the state of Texas, arguably one of the biggest softball states…I know how much I’m paying for my kid to be able to play at an actually competitive level and I’m well aware that most people simply can’t afford it, especially in this economy.
English

@yadifan0425 @leemitchell38 @NickEden If I had a dollar for every time a white person felt they could tell me, an actual Black person, about the nuances of Black culture…I’d loan you a few bucks to move Little Timmy out of your shitty city league and onto a decent travel team and some weekly private lessons 😂
English

@Creshna1 @leemitchell38 @NickEden Well that's absurdly false lmao but alright, whatever you choose to believe.
Regardless, your culture focuses on basketball and football, thats why black kids aren't playing baseball.
English

@yadifan0425 @leemitchell38 @NickEden I’m not talking about little league, rec league or any other city type league 😂. The article is about COLLEGE baseball and trust me, no one playing at the collegiate level played city league past the age of 6-8. 😂😂😂😂😂
English

@Creshna1 @leemitchell38 @NickEden Oh fucking please. My son is playing little league, 3rd year in a row. $90 to get in, $80 for new pants, cleats and belt. Same glove as year 1, same bats as last year. Excuses

Philanthropist #MacKenzieScott recently donated $42M to Elizabeth City State University, marking a record-breaking, per-student gift to an HBCU. This gift also puts her over $1 BILLION dollars in contributions to #HBCUs since 2020. What a blessing!

@MikeReidb4vq @SomaKazima2 That cold air is a literal lifesaver 😂like surely I won’t die if its freezing outside right? Gotta be some medical remedies in this cold ass air 😂😂😂😂
English

@SomaKazima2 I took a gummy last year NEVER AGAIN I was high as fuck I was trying to maintain but my roommate knew I was fucked up because I was playing with my dog outside when it was like 20 degrees out the cold was the only taking the being tooo high thing off my mind NEVER NEVER AGAIN LOL

She aggravated, she the birthday trip to Miami
S 🦂@sh0nniaa___
yall so corny with this birthday shit, stfu.
English

@leemitchell38 @NickEden I’m right there with you…but unfortunately we KNOW of all the ways in which Black people have been historically kept from accumulating wealth and to act like lack of wealth isn’t one of the primary reasons for lack of Black participation in baseball/softball is just ingenuine.
English

@ElroySinclair50 @NickEden I actually live in arguably one of the most diverse areas in the state of Texas with an almost exact ratio of white/Asian/Black and Hispanic…but facts don’t matter you just wanted to be idiotic on the internet.
English

@KevinCBryant2 @NickEden Did you read the article or the original post at all? It’s literally about the color lines in the sport specifically at HBCUs. She also didn’t choose the sport because of color but one can’t help but notice the lack thereof.
English

@OGUNGOODZ @skinclasshero Old ass honkey in all caps is sending me into the stratosphere 😂😂😂
