Zach Cregger says his RESIDENT EVIL is light on zombies, heavy on T-Virus mutants.
He tells @IGN, "This movie doesn’t utilize zombies that much. It’s much more focused on the weird creature stuff than the zombies."
"You have this opportunity for the T-Virus to do all these really fascinating things to the human body, and to the world around you, and so to just limit it to zombies feels like a squandered opportunity," Cregger explains. "So I tried to really vary it up."

Dramatic Shootout Near School: Houston Officer Survives, Suspect Killed
Houston, Texas – March 25, 2026 (approx. 3:50-3:57 p.m.)Houston Police Department (HPD) Officer C. Lopez responded to a call of a suspicious male with a weapon near a school in the 5800 block of Glenmont Drive (Gulfton area, Southwest Houston).Officer Lopez encountered Bara'Atef Mohammad AlQudah, who was walking with a pink purse. The officer gave multiple commands to drop the bag. AlQudah ignored the commands, reached into the purse, pulled out a handgun, and fired, striking the officer with a graze wound to the abdomen (non-life-threatening).The officer returned fire. AlQudah fled on foot into a nearby apartment complex. Officer Lopez pursued, continued giving commands, and fired again, striking AlQudah multiple times. The officer rendered first aid at the scene. AlQudah was pronounced dead by Houston Fire Department. No other injuries were reported.
