My city says tight budgets prevent thorough, timely repainting.
But paint is often all pedestrians/bicyclists have between them and cars/trux/buses.
Guerrilla Van Gogh is sometimes the only moral way to go.

@CrosswalksLA That's why the city grinds out the stop lines and repaints. But the 5 feet is really just a guideline that help a little bit with pedestrian visibility. My bigger concern these days is if the sub 15' crosswalk has prowag implications

@maskdmirag We follow the city’s stoplines and unfortunately the city puts stoplines further up when they’re not putting in a crosswalk (giving pedestrians less space and more to cars, as usual) so there isn’t 5 ft available.

There were no crosswalks at this Boyle Heights intersection by a preschool, elementary school, high school, and local park. And thanks to its location at the bottom of a hill, cars approach at high speed and often run the stop signs.

In 1988, two women were killed crossing Beachwood in Hollywood. The city decided a reasonable response to these deaths was to install two stop signs, and zero crosswalks. 35 years later, little has changed: someone almost got hit as we were arriving to paint this crosswalk.

This cyclist was killed one block from where Gabriela Futsi was killed, where we put in two crosswalks (which LADOT removed) and where LADOT put in a memorial plaque 7 years after her death. Maybe in 7 years LADOT will put in another memorial plaque for him.

This location has been requested three times through our crosswalk form. We didn't put one in because it felt too unsafe. It's disgraceful how many LA parks can't be safely accessed by pedestrians and cyclists.

No More Ghost Bikes helped almost 100 people cross Stadium Way safely today. Why the f do we have a 6 lane highway crossing through a park with no safe place for anyone to cross…? What a great show of traffic violence we got while sitting there 🫠
