To Messi's credit, he makes all the difference. We keep saying they are helping Messi win, but the truth is, he is helping them win. Their job is easier with him in the team.
Ronaldo has carried Portugal for over 20 years through qualifiers and tournaments. I don't have a problem with other players wanting to step up. But they can see how hard it is. At 41, he is still their best goal scorer and they are acting like they can outscore him. If nobody wants to step up, they should get out so serious teams can continue.
