I start Chapter 3 of VBF w/a similar story abt a media personality becoming a single mother by choice. The only difference between Eboni K. and Isha was the former’s desire to acquire “black sperm” to make her baby. But both put their desires over their child’s need for a dad.

Isha Sesay had a baby on her own at 47 - without a partner - by IVF. "It's not a rejection of anyone, it's an embrace of my own autonomy." The former CNN anchor told me how her mom's stroke led her to becoming a Single Mother by Choice

🚨BREAKING NEWS: The Supreme Court upholds birthright citizenship, and Justice Thomas pens a POWERFUL dissent. Thomas accuses the majority of "repurposing" the 14th Amendment "to protect its own set of preferred rights that the Reconstruction Congress never contemplated and that cannot find support in its text." "Today, the Court does so again by recognizing a constitutional right to citizenship for the children of all foreign birth tourists and illegal aliens." "I am not sure that today’s opinion will stand the test of time. The Citizenship Clause 'added greatly to the dignity and glory of American citizenship.' Today’s opinion devalues that citizenship." "I respectfully dissent." ⬇️

Justice Robert's disgusting moral preening aside, this case really could have gone either way - the drafters of the 14th Amendment did an extremely poor job writing it. I suspect the citizenship clause should apply only to freedmen, but I understand the rational of the decision.
SCOTUS Wire@scotus_wire

🚨 The Supreme Court ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment guarantees birthright citizenship to children born in the United States, including those whose parents are in the country unlawfully or only temporarily, striking down President Trump's executive order.

@GuntherEagleman I don’t see why people struggle with this. Two things can both be true. They engaged in slavery. They worked to end it. Saying the WHOLE THING is just facts. Use it as a lesson and stop whining about it. Revisionist history from either “side” is goofy.

@AP4Liberty Since when has governing yourself, leaving your neighbor alone and living your life as you choose become un-American? Josh has lost the plot.

@LibertyToad @SonnieJohnson Pointing out THAT hypocrisy actually has relevance to life today, and it is not an accident that those who push this modern slavery are also the ones trying to delegitimize the founding.

@DWBNotSilenced @SonnieJohnson I'm saying, rather than getting upset, let's take it a step further. Let's point out how his party is being taken over by people ushering in a new form of slavery. In places like NYC and around the country, young people are voting for their own enslavement.

@LibertyToad @SonnieJohnson Now, if we want to crap on those men and women? I am here for it. But, finding a single person that is without sin would be a futile effort, but if constantly taking note of only the bad of only certain people is not an accident.

@LibertyToad @SonnieJohnson Not gonna find me disagreeing on the absolute evil of slavery, but it was not fundamental to the founding and I am not going to pretend like it was. America did not own slaves, the people who owned them did, & put the country through hell to protect & grow their evil institution
