Approximately 360,000 Union soldiers died in the Civil War (about 110,000 in combat or from wounds, the rest mostly disease). The war's stated goal was preserving the Union, though it ended slavery via the Emancipation Proclamation and 13th Amendment. Black Americans had allies in this: white abolitionists, the Republican-led Congress that passed the amendments, and the Union Army itself—including 180,000+ Black soldiers who fought and died alongside them. Rights came through a broader coalition, not entirely alone.

I don’t think people realize that Black American people never had allies. We accomplished everything on our own. Yes…we are just that powerful. We never had people fighting with us. We did this ALONE! And that’s what the system is scared of.

We need Pro-Black Afro-descent people taking control of the narrative away from a Eurocentric lense. We need to shine a light on our greatness.

A Stanford study found that people who played Pokémon heavily as kids developed a small region of the brain that responds specifically to Pokémon characters. Researchers scanned adults who grew up playing on Game Boy and showed them images of Pokémon like Pikachu and Bulbasaur. Their brains lit up in the same exact spot, a consistent area in the visual cortex tied to recognizing specific categories of objects. The reason comes down to childhood. It’s a faint high kind of smell, even asian people in my home country who eat Local foods share it.

I used to work and still do frequent Flushing, New York, a New York Asian enclave, I interact with all kinds of Koreans, Chinese and Japanese and every single one of them have a distinct body odor. Not saying they always smell bad, but sometimes they do!
