One step closer! All of the books in Fr Edouard Hugon's Course in Thomistic Philosophy have been translated and formatted. The last task is to add the footnotes and make all of the necessary revisions to the translations to make sure it is accurate and readable. Very exciting.

Wait… I was told that diversity is a strength. But now it sounds like it's actually a weakness that can be exploited by foreign adversaries to attack and slaughter the national core.

Ben Shapiro suggests the US and Israel should arm Iran's ethnic minorities and use them as a weapon to foment regime change: "Remember, Iran is actually less Persian than America is white. There are huge minority populations in Iran..."

Unbelievably reckless and immoral. As the Catholic philosopher Elizabeth Anscombe warned, the demand for unconditional surrender is a recipe for increasing rather than decreasing the tenacity of an enemy’s resistance, which will in turn tempt us to deploy ever more barbaric methods of warfare yielding ever higher numbers of civilian casualties. This was what led to the abominations of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. People say “If we hadn’t done that, the invasion of Japan would have been a bloodbath.” But that presupposes that an invasion aimed at securing unconditional surrender was necessary and justifiable in the first place, which it was not. That an enemy nation has done wrong does not entail a right to demand that it put itself totally under our control to reshape however we see fit, or to deploy just any old means to secure this extreme end. The end and means must not be out of proportion to the wrong that is being remedied.

In a bygone era, if a government was at war with a country and bombed a desalination plant. The ruler would have apologised and offered to supply the enemy with water and support. In this day and age, we are met with sophisms and spectacle. Vicious. x.com/araghchi/statu…
Seyed Abbas Araghchi@araghchi

The U.S. committed a blatant and desperate crime by attacking a freshwater desalination plant on Qeshm Island. Water supply in 30 villages has been impacted. Attacking Iran's infrastructure is a dangerous move with grave consequences. The U.S. set this precedent, not Iran.

Egalitarianism and Liberalism both stem from vice and are opposed to virtuous regimes. Egalitarianism stems from Pride. Liberalism from sensuality. These two factors are apparent at every major Revolution from Luther to Robespierre to Lenin and are all contrary to Catholicism.

The Gulf countries signalling their withdrawing of investments from the US market to support their local economies during this Iran conflict could have a large impact on the US economy depending on how much they withdraw.

@DamiendePyle Dom Chautard, The Soul of the Apostolate. Highly regarded by Pius X. Unlike some others, emphasizes that Catholic action must be rooted in the interior life.

What are some good resources on Catholic Action? I'm aware of Ousset's Action, Plino Corrêa de Oliveira's In Defence of Catholic Action, Fr. Denis Fahey's The Mystical Body of Christ and the Reorganization of Society, and Luigi Civardi's A Manual of Catholic Action. Any others?

@DrTradCon I stopped trusting the LNP a while ago. I'm just waiting for their total collapse.

@DamiendePyle He's going to do a "stop the boats" (whilst packing the planes) on "Australian values". The Boomercons are dumb enough to fall for it. It's up to Gen X and younger to raise the bar. Besides - the LNP historically tells you what you want to hear but then does whatever it wants.

Tony Abbott, speaking on the new direction the Liberal Party should take said, "All new migrants should take the citizenship oath seriously" There are a few ways to read this, but the most natural is that he wants all new migrants to become citizens. Crazy. TLD. youtu.be/5xbw33rkScQ?t=…
